Fingerprint question

So the other week I was clumsy in the kitchen and cut a piece off a thumb, at an angle that includes the print.

pics of the missing bit if y'all really want, but [facepalm]

Is this significant when it comes to paperwork?

I have heard stories from Dealers in past where for example in my questioning out of pure curiosity if someone where as an example have lost a finger. Was told by the dealer that there is a note that they have to write on the finger cards or along with the digital imprint they make a note as to why a finger was missing. I would assume that would also mean partially cut off skin.

Which leads me to ask another question, if you skin grows back does the finger print come back as it was? ALways wondered that?

Depends on the depth. If it's scar tissue, no. Otherwise, yes.

I had PD fingerprint me for suppressors the other day. They just wrote amputated on it, though mine is completely gone. I believe they said they would write 'injured' under it for something like you are saying. I have injured my fingers a lot, sometimes they scarred, sometimes they didn't. It depends on your body.

Good question. I wonder if even a simple cut on the finger I use for phone ID may be compromised ?

What PD department is this? More importantly can I use them for finger print services from Jefferson County?

I doubt they will. It was a friend, I brought cards and ink. I just wanted him to document the amputated finger for me so there were no questions.

Scuffed up fingers for me are a way of life.
I had a computer that was a finger scan and half of the time I had to log in manually.

The print on the ring finger on the left hand is severely damaged from an old cut. When doing paper prints the lady puts a mark on it stating something along the lines of Scar or Damaged, indicating the print is correct. When doing digital prints last year the machine made me retry 3 or 5 times before allowing me to tell it the print was correct due to scarring/damage. Damaged prints are fairly common is my understanding.

Sorry to hear about your thumb though. Losing that much skin on something you can't help but touch to literally everything sucks.
