Man, flu is nuts this year. I had to send a sick employee home last Tuesday morning. Confirmed influenza A. Another on Wednesday. Then 3 more got it by Friday night. I felt extra fatigued and sore Saturday afternoon but had started pounding elderberry, zinc, C and D on Tuesday so all I needed was to go to bed early Sat, spend the day on the couch Sun and I felt good by Monday. Had two more employees call in Monday. That's like half the office with influenza A in a week. And we aren't in close quarters and clean/sanitize daily.

My oldest daughter came home not feeling well yesterday and woke up in bad shape today. She tested positive today for Flu A. (1st time she's missed school in many, many years). She and the other 4 of us are taking tamiflu now.

Kids at their school are dropping like flies.

This thing seems to be ULTRA contagious this year. May be worth calling your doctor to get some tamiflu on hand just in case.

Had something last week. It’s going around.
What are we to do? Live in fear?
I had it, dealt with it like I have in the past and moved forward.

What do you expect considering the last couple of years everybody has been a shut in because of WuFlu and when they were brave enough to venture out they kept their face buried in face diapers?
You have to exercise your immune system just like anything else.

Agreed. We weren't lockdowners, we barely ever wore masks and are purebloods. Even when schools were closed we made our kids play with other kids everyday. Then when public schools stayed closed we moved them to private school so they could attend in person. This is the 1st fever my 13 year old has had in 5-6 years. And we all had covid, virtually symptom free. We have solid immune systems.

That said, this seems to be spreading much worse than usual. I'm sure because the aforementioned severely weakened immune systems. So if anyone is worried about catching it and missing work or something, doesn't hurt to grab a $10 Rx of generic Tamiflu to have on hand just in case. The pharmacies are being worked hard and aren't exactly providing timely service when you need something urgently.

It couldnt possibly have anything to do with people taking an experimental poisonous substance now could it?

Interesting topic, something is going around at work, most co-workers vaccinated from the Rona. I?ve worked very closely with a few sick staff, I?m unvaccinated because I refused the Fed employee mandate, so we?ll see what happens.

My mom reached out to me via FB Messenger tonight and told me she'd heard in MO how bad CO is with all of the illnesses. Apparently it's making national news now.

One interesting note. When we took my kid to the Dr they tested her for flu, rsv and strep. All three things running wild right now apparently. They didn't test for covid.

During covid they literally stopped testing for flu. I never understood that. But now they've stopped testing for covid. Covid locked down the world just a short time ago and now it's so insignificant they don't even bother testing for it.

The first one of my employees to get the flu last Tuesday is finally starting to really improve. A couple have tried to come back too early because they were out of sick time but they were in bad shape and I had to send them back home. Based on my employees, recovery is going on a week+ for everyone so far.

Girlfriend came down with it, she's on day 4, I got it and am on day 2 or 3... kicking our butt. No strength left. Can't eat more than a couple of crackers and water still.

Most of the PCR viral panels (at least that the facilities in my area are using) test for Flu A, Flu B, RSV, and Covid. We can't even separate it out to test individually. (We can test individually with antigen tests, but many more false negatives). I'm seeing RSV > Flu A >> Covid >>>> Flu B. Also seeing several co-infections of Flu A and Covid, but I'm not sure I trust that the Covid is active in these double-positives; likely residual viral particles from an infection 3-4 weeks earlier.

The wife got something from the stepkid and daughter in law, she thinks covid, I'm pretty sure flu. that was 2 weeks ago, she's just started feeling better. I got nothing.

Pray that all of you dealing with sickness recover quickly. Being sick is not fun.

Our Doc didn't mention covid either way, neg or pos. Now I'm wondering if they included that test or not. I'll have to check the record.

My daughter turned the corner today, she's starting to feel better and actually ate some real food. She was an absolute wreck yesterday. Kids bounce back quickly.

If I had the option to separate out the PCR tests, I’d rarely run Covid in the mildly ill with no co-morbidities (in spite of some “recommendations “), as it wouldn’t change treatment. I do like differentiating between flu and RSV, and certainly strep , as they’re treated differently.

This is awesome news. I hope she continues to improve quickly and is able to enjoy Christmas fully healthy and full of energy.

uhoh

I think I got it.

Woke up this morning with a sore throat and all my joints hurting.

I have that weird tingling on the sides of my chest when I move.

Took a two hour nap and feel worse than I did earlier.

I need to go to the grocery store but walked the dog and felt like I was gonna pass out.

Shit.
