I posted pictures of our heeler mix Odessa when we got her 4 years ago. My wife and I have been talking for a while about getting her a puppy playmate. Even at 4 years old Odessa still has a lot of puppy energy and loves to run and play. She also gets along great with other dogs & people (I always say she's the worlds worst watchdog because if a burglar broke in she'd wag her tail and give him puppy kisses.)

Anyway, a couple of days ago my wife saw a post on FB about a young couple that was struggling to take care of their new puppy and a 1 year old baby in their small apartment. My wife contacted the woman and she confirmed that the couple had decided they needed to "re-home" the dog because they just couldn't take care of it.

So, yesterday my wife and I went and picked up this little guy:

92462

According to the people we got him from, he's about 6 months old, so still looks and acts like a puppy. As near as we can tell, he appears to be a fairly pure miniature Aussie Shepherd. You can see he's got one blue eye.

He's absolutely adorable and I think he likes having the run of our big house and our yard (previous owners had him in an apartment on the 2nd floor.) Odessa was a little unsure at first but this little guy loves to play and he and Odessa have been playing and getting along very well for the past 24 hours.

I'll try to get better pictures, although that's a challenge because he hardly ever sits still! He's just a bundle of energy running all over our house.

He's partially potty trained but we definitely have some work to do in that area, and also in just obedience training in general. But we're both very happy with him.

Since he's sort of my birthday present (my birthday is Saturday) the wife said I could name him, so I considered a lot of options and finally decided to go with "Loki" after the mischievous Norse god. He's a little bit skinny (about 17lbs) but he's got big paws that I assume he will grow into a bit. He'll still likely be smaller than Odessa who is about 35 lbs.

But we all (or most of us) like dogs here so I figured I'd post a picture of him.

Cute pup
We had a Sheltie mix named Loki. He lived up to his namesake and I swear that dog NEVER had a bad day. He existed for one purpose and that was to make you happy.
We got 16 years out of him, still miss him.

Cute pooch.

Don't take it to a dog park. When you call it's name you will have 14 other mutts come running towards you.

At times it seems every dog at the park is either called Loki or Bella.
