View Full Version : So the ATF Hostility Begins - Denying OEM suppressor for no reason
Purchased a 9mm suppressor last April, got the deny letter last week indicating an address problem on the application filed by the FFL, and refunded my $200 they had for almost 9 months. The FFL went over it, no issues, the application address info is the exact same as the three approved NFA items I have. There is no reason to deny it. The FFL called, they can no longer call, must be emailed and they will get to it when they get to it, which is probably never. So, be prepared for you NFA items to not go through in this hostile administration.
Shoot, hope this doesn?t happen to me, did the efile in May and still waiting.
Efile they said, turn around time is faster they said??

ATF gets their money, manning and directives from the US Congress.
Things should be changing this next few months.
So, call / write your Congressperson and see if they can help with expediting the correction of this error.

Had the same issue with 2 for a client of mine about a month ago
Finally got the ATF approval for my 9mm suppressor I got from ECCO in Elizabeth 4/22. That only took 1.5 years!!!
Good to hear you got approval. Too bad there isn't federal law to provide compensation to victims of bureaucratic failures of timely process. Too bad there aren't criminal and civil consequences for those bureaucrats and their agencies.

Especially when the first rejection was likely intentional because my FFL and I went over the paperwork and submitted the exact same thing again and it miraculously went through. They didn't have the decency to address the error or talk to the FFL when it was brought to their attention; just resubmit and wait another ridiculously long time.
A friend of mine had a night mare with the BATF on his last, his fourth, suppressor application. They dug up some charge that he had gotten back when he was 18 y/o, that had been expunged. BUT they used that excuse to deny his fourth application. They made him jump through all kinds of hoops for over a year, to prove that the charge had truly been expunged.
He did finally get the approval for his fourth application, but it was a real pain the buttootie.

I'm worried I'm going through the same thing. I submitted for 2 SBR's in May. One came back approved within a week or two, the other is still pending. Paperwork is all the same except the firearm specifics.
