I think a slow hand clap is adequate for the Republican Party crap show to vote in a speaker. They really need to pull this thing together.

Embarrassing start guys!

They should have thrown everyone a curve ball and picked AOC to be the GOP SOTH. [ROFL1]

This is the way the system is designed to work. They don't want Hunter Biden and they obviously don't want 'Newsom-Lite'. Let the system work. What's gone on so far isn't even the record.

If it keeps the House from spending more money we don't have, I'm fine with it.

Yeah, I initially thought this was more republican stupidity. But I've changed my mind. I don't want McCarthy in the house, much less in charge of it. He's bad for the party and he's bad for the country. McCarthy is an elitist, DC prick...and I'll never get tired of stating that.

People constantly bitch about republicans not doing anything, how they're the same as democrats, blah, blah, blah. Well, now a few of them have come together to stop McCarthy. That's a good thing. Personally I'm proud of them and this is why they've been elected...to do what's right for the country. I hope they can hold the line until a suitable alternative can be found to replace McCarthy.

Fuck it...they can't spend money on bullshit stuff or pass bullshit legislation while this is going on. At a minimum, if that's the good that comes out of this, it's a win.

If it keeps the House from spending more money we don't have, I'm fine with it.Exactly. Congress in gridlock is a great thing.

They don't do shit all except spend too much money, raise taxes and reduce freedom. Society literally judges them based on how many new laws they pass. That's BS. We should judge them based on how many regulations they abolish. I hope they don't do anything all year.

Republican congressmen don't do anything to defend freedom anymore than Dems do. Don't forget, it's republicans who were in charge during COVID, spending bailout money like it was going out of style, that led to our current inflation problems. Let them argue forever and not pass any new legislation.

These 20 republicans are doing everyone a favor. Good on them.

Bless Rep Boebert, and the others, for standing strong and fighting the swamp. McCarthy is a POS, but more upsetting is Dan Crenshaw and his attitude.

Crenshaw had been an obvious McCain clone for a long time time. It's actually hard to pick the biggest conservative shitbag though, it's list Almost as long as the big dem names.

What have I missed about Dan Crenshaw that I don't know? I've only ever had a positive impression of what i've seen him say, personally... but admittedly don't seek out content so haven't watched a ton of what he says/does....

He is a big Government spending Republi-Crat/RHINO.
He is a pro war Hawk.
He is an unashamed America Second Cheerleader/Supporter.
He supports Red Flag Laws.
He is, as fitz19D pointed out, essentially McCain 2.0.

Edit: Also a part of the WEF Young Global Leaders Program, aka what Larry Page, Justin Castro-Truduea, Gavin Newsom, Peter Thiel, Max Levchin, Mark Zuckerberg, Gabrielle Giffords, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Nikki Haley, Huma Abedin, Dana Perino, Jack Conte, Peter Buttigieg, Alexander Soros, Emmanuel Macron, and our very own Jared Polis are all a part of.

Obviously a highly respected above board and legitimate group that is in NO WAY committed to promoting a singular agenda from supposedly diverse political groups and parties.

I watched a couple votes today on Fox. It was somewhat interesting. School House Rocks never did an episode on how the Speaker gets elected so I didn't know exactly how it happened. The theatrics in government by the elected adults are ridiculous.

I did laugh when the talking head from Fox kept referring to McCarthy by the wrong name.

What's more damaging for a party? Gridlock? Or a so-called conservative calling his Pro America brothers and sisters terrorists?

We love it when the leftists eat their own, and now it's their turn to laugh at us.

In other news, McCarthy's in.

Guess they decided they all wanted to just go home. But FIFTEEN votes on it? Is that even legal?

What scares me is that none were wearing masks. They must have really good medical care. They probably waltz into Walter Reed Medical Center for "Members Only" treatment. Anybody got any insight? Special filters in the capitol building? Secret access to a medication? Screening before entering?

Be grateful they did not vote Joe Biden the permanent Queen of America while they were at it.

Political posturing.

Talk, talk, talk, issue ultimatums and, cue the John Williams climax...

Nothing unexpected happens.

Despite the admonitions that this is going to be a restructuring of the Republican party, as they swing farther right trying to recapture the momentum of the Trump MAGA days or the earlier Tea Party movement, political practicality proves once again that change is very difficult.

Especially in an institution as entrenched as the United States Congress.
