At King Soopers Longmont this afternoon:

One dozen Kroger Large Eggs = $6.59

The beta male stocker didn't appreciate my "Thanks Democrats!" exclamation. [facepalm]

A hen's comfort is much more important than the contents of your wallet.

What had you been paying? Trader Joes had Organic Grade A Large Brown Eggs for $4.29/Dozen today.

We refused to buy at that price. Before Christmas, they were in the $2.XX range.

5 doz under $15 at Sam's in North COS this week. White and tasteless, but thank God they are cage free.

Safeway was $10 a dozen. Sprouts was $4.58 for 18 at Sprouts. Go figure. [BooHoo]

I paid $10 lb for ground buffalo recently. It has been that way for years. Less fat than turkey.

Isn’t this because avian flu just swept through Colorado and killed off something like 80% of our egg laying chickens?

It probably was never a good idea to have chickens stacked on top of each other injected full of hormones just to have inexpensive eggs. Prices and methods will even out eventually. 92533

Costco didn't even have a spot for eggs in the cooler anymore. Supply is so unpredictable, they are storing paper towels in the spaces that used to hold eggs.

$3.51/doz, or $16.96/60 just across the border in Kansas where I work. I could start an airlift?.

Had a friend move away that killer a buffalo every year.
He didn't have enough freezer space. Sold me ground buffalo for 3.00 a pound. I miss them grilled buffalo burgers.

Illegals can smuggle fentanyl, methamphetamine, and heroin into Colorado without fear of arrest but you should be very, very, afraid to brings those eggs into Colorado. You would be so busted!

Arvada Costco had eggs the other day for the normal price. So they're out there if you look hard enough.

I think the egg industry needs to take a page out of the Volkswagen Audi Group playbook and just slap some "Cage Free, We Swear! [Awesom] " stickers on all the egg cartons to keep the prices reasonable.

Well, I’ve already posted it, so my treacherous scoundrelry is already part of my permanent record. I guess we could always plan an “egg fry” and forgot to fry them.

Yes, this entirely caused by the new strain of avian influenza which has killed millions of domestic chickens, waterfowl raptors and owls. It's very serious as it moves into songbird populations and eventually will cost countless billions in crop failures and increased food prices.

Birds eat bugs, bugs eat crops. We have hero ball players, actors, singers, etc. No one can really name a virologist of prominence. They don't make the talk circuit.

On the local scene, the Eurasian collared dove is the avian I have seen the most affected and I would surmise is the primary vector.
