So, I have a model 64 that I noticed is missing one of the two small pins that align the extractor to the cylinder. The revolver functions fine as it is but the tiny missing pin bothers my OCD.
The little pins are impossible to find and it appears that if I want to replace it I will have to fabricate one.
There are varying opinions on the internet as to the importance of these pins. There are also some stories about some revolvers leaving the factory with only one pin installed. I think S&W no longer incorporates these little pins on their newer models.
Just curious what any of you think about the missing pin.
I can get pictures up later but if you push the extractor up and look beneath it on the cylinder you should see two very tiny pins in the cylinder beneath the extractor.
