Hey all,

I am a Glock and Colt AR armorer and agreed to handle a minor upgrade to a friend's ATI GSG-5 .22LR MP5 clone. Specifically, I was going to potentially perform a hammer strut modification and replace the OEM aluminum screws with an upgrade kit from rrages.com with Allen heads.

The videos on YouTube are normally my go-to for tips on a strange platform but the series of videos I found for this, the first one was yanked off of YouTube for copyright.

I started getting this thing back together and I'm lost. Rather than screw it up, I'm wondering if there is a shop around metro Denver (I'm in Westminster) or even a forum member that knows his/her way around one of these or has done these mods/upgrades?

I just want to get it back together and functioning. The hammer strut mod and other things aren't critical as I think I've talked my buddy into selling this turd and getting an actual HK .22 :D

Basically, I just need a full reassembly from a detail strip, preferably with these new screws I paid $14.95 for lol.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!!

Someday there will be a statue...

If you're unarmed, you are a victim.

I was using that Part 2 video as well as 3-5. Unfortunately, part 1 was taken down by YouTube for copyright.

Would you be interested in completing this? Name a price (within reason haha)

The HK branded MP5.22 is made by UMAREX. UMAREX is ATI is GSG. I don't know if HK requires a better quality from the maker or if they are the same. The mags aren't the same.

Had no idea. Good information, thanks for the heads up!

I emailed ATI. They said I can ship them the upper and they'll throw it back together for me for a nominal gunsmithing fee.

Appreciate the info!

Are you just trying to copy how to get it back together?

The one issue that I had is I had to use low strength loktite on a nut.

Mine always has functioned well (until it gets too dirty… but that is any 22LR semi auto)

(and maybe you need to try launch control on sport plus. :). )

That is basically it. ATI is going to take it back it sounds like. I'm going to have them go through it and make sure it's reliable.

Regarding launch control on a Sport+, what are we talking about here? Porsche? 992?

I had a 2006 Cayenne Turbo S that was not stock. Made about 600 horses at the wheels. It didn't have launch control but it was obscenely fast. I also had a 2003 Audi RS6 that was not stock. No launch control there either but it was faster than the Cayenne since it was a lot lighter.

These days I have a dead stock '21 SQ5 in District Green. Still no damn launch control but it's a blast and clearly underrated at 349 hp.

The wiki page to the GSG-5 has a link to The gun digest book on assembly disassembly. Amazon sells it.
