Trying to figure this out, I have three (two are mine, one confirmed on a friends rifle) AR iron sights that are slightly diagonal to the rest of the sight, and wiggle when turned. Is this normal? I can't find anything on the internet about it. I never noticed an issue with accuracy, especially on the carry handle, but I can't figure out if this is a common thing or not. Top pic is the carry handle, bottom is the detachable sight. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The rear sight on my A2 upper is like that. Never had a problem with it. I think the wiggle is normal but a more knowledgeable person should confirm.

Mine does it too. I read somewhere that this is normal.

Absolutely normal and designed into the system. There is an Armalite tech-note on the subject.

Here you go I found it. It explains it much better than I ever could.

Absolutely normal and designed into the system.

Ditto. If there wasn't any play you wouldn't be able to adjust the sight easily and repeatably. The small amount of wiggle doesn't affect accuracy as it doesn't allow the sight to move relative to the position of the front sight.

Yep, normal. I think they sit canted like that because of spring tension in the adjusting mechanism. (I didn't read the link...)

There are special match (and anal-retentive) sights which use two ball detents and springs to give you the full sight functionality, while also looking straighter. If ya just gotta, you could order up one of those national match sight sets, which also have finer elevation graduations.
