Little Dutch

I suck at kid Icarus. My wife is great at it.

My username on all forums used to be Dutch. The internet is big now, so Dutch is usually taken so I use variations. Little, old, tallest, etc…. My family name is Dutch in origin.

Term my grandfather used referring to his old boots. Not sure why I chose it, but has been an ID name for me since the late 90s.

Most of my nicknames are highly unique, so I tried to think of the most generic thing I can. A tree. An arbol.

Linkless
03-03-2023, 08:26
Just before turning 21, I went to a local gun store to buy my first pistol. My friend had a Glock 20 at the time so I wanted a 10mm. Couldn't find anything until I looked in the case and saw a Springfield Armory Linkless 10mm. I'd loved 1911s and didn't know they made them in 10mm. Several years later I meet Rob Leatham and find out the story behind it. It was a Peter Stahl design that was the evolution of the Springfield Armory Omega (I have acquired one of these as well). The Omega was a joint venture between Stahl and Springfield while Springfield didn't include Stahl with the Linkless. A lawsuit followed and Springfield stopped production. According to Rob, there were a couple hundred sold before this so it is rather unique. Externally it looks like a standard 1911. Internally is has no link, the barrel and one piece guide rod have ramps on them so it locks up more like the Browning High Power.

Didn't want to use a screenname I'd used elsewhere. Felt like something stupid would be easy to remember and unused. Honestly, can't stand the stuff.

I became a big fan of the 1911 a long time ago as a 12 yr old. My dad's best friend was a former Marine Gunny and he introduced me to the venerable 1911 (dad was a S&W revolver guy). In addition to learning to handle the pistol I learned how to field strip and clean it. He commented one day how I was like a surgeon working on it and he dubbed me "Doc 45". It's stuck with me.

Remember the ads on the back of the Sunday Round Up?
You know- the Columbia Record/Tape Club.......5 free- you just have to buy 3 at regular price in the next year?
I may or may not know somebody who had multiple accounts with them under various alias'.....Seymour Butz, Mike Hunt, Tai Ni Wang, Dick Gozinya, Helen Wate, Chata Ortega, Gerald McBoing.
Oddly all living at the same "apartment complex" in Littleton.
Pretty sure a couple of them still need to buy a tape or two......[Muaha]
