Nearly two years after a gunman opened fire in a busy King Soopers store, killing 10 people, the son of one victim is taking legal action against the manufacturer who makes and markets the gun used.
Filed in Connecticut since they have laws allowing manufacturers to be sued.
Just like the law about to pass here.

Help me understand how he could file in Connecticut for a crime that was committed in CO.
Shouldn't there be jurisdictional limitations?

I think because the gun was sold in Colorado.
But I have no idea the legalities. And that may be the idea behind these laws.
Ruger has a corporate office in Ct. And this is a civil suit.

I heard this as well. I thought they moved to Arizona? Must just be manufacturing there.

Think they have offices or physical locations in 5 or 6 states.

Colorado approved the shooter to buy the gun by conducting a thorough background check. The state of Colorado is 100% responsible for the shooter obtaining the gun. Ruger had no part in the sales transaction.
No different than Coors not being responsible for a drunk driver killing someone while driving.
Why can't lawsuits be required to follow basic logic and reasoning?
Ruger had zero say in who purchased a legal product and later used it to break the law. These money grubbing lawyers representing these families should be dropped through a wood chipper.

This actually makes sense, a lot more than the current lawsuit.
They are just looking to settle.

So with that thinking, can they sue King Soopers too?

Maybe figure out what kind of vehicle the perpetrator drove and go after the manufacturer of that vehicle. I mean if they didn?t sell him that car then he wouldn?t have been able to drive to the grocery store that day.
And don?t forget the ammunition manufacturer. Even that evil weapon would have been useless if someone didn?t make ammunition for it.

Who made his shoes? He wouldn't be walking around crazy, if he couldn't walk!

No.
They are looking to bankrupt the company.
Phil Harding, Getz's Attorney, said they're following the roadmap from Sandy Hook.
"We're using the blueprints from Sandy Hook, and we're using the blueprints that the congressional hearing did and putting it together," Harding said. "Something has to change. These deaths and these shootings, something has to change, and this is the first step."
"It's not a pistol. It's a killing machine," Harding said. "With the attachments, it's just as deadly and dangerous as the AR-15 assault guns."
"The number of people that continually die from violence such as this, everything else we've tried hasn't worked, so now we're going after the manufacturers," Harding said.

That last sentence is crazy.
What happens when gun manufacturers are banned and guns are confiscated? Then knives, bats, hammers... til we're assaulting each other with rubber bands and fuzzy slippers? Cause we will be.

I?ll still be pummeling people with my fists long after they take my fuzzy slippers. Guess they?ll have to pass laws against having hands.
What they are missing is that Remington was out of business/bankrupt when the Sandy Hook lawsuit happened, the plaintiffs settled with the insurance companies not Remington.

Which is likely to happen in this instance.
But what about the next time? How many multi-million dollar settlements until no insurance company will issue a policy for any manufacturer?
Another thing to consider is the pending Colorado legislation allows dealers to be sued as well.

That's just crazy talk right there. Everyone knows that once guns are banned no further violence could/would ever occur and no government anywhere would ever consider banning anything else.

A realization definitely not lost on this crowd, nor on the Karen's Demand Action Mom's Demand Action types. They're waiting with baited breath for this law to be signed and then they'll be going after firearm retailers with a vengeance.

Dear Moms Demand Action,
Please leave law abiding citizens who have done nothing wrong alone. These are good people who work hard, pay their taxes and are the pillars of a productive society.
If you want to enact real change look to your own crotchfruit that you have spawned, you know- the siblings of the hundreds of thousands of children that you have so joyfully had sucked, salted and dissected from your wombs after carelessly spreading your legs apart like a drunken prom date in the back seat of your mom and dads 82 Buick while your love of your life frantically drove himself into your succulent depths and splashed his baby batter into your gash.
Those sweet and darling children that you have so tenderly raised while you helicoptered over them, protecting them and guarding them from all of the scary things the world has to offer.
You spent the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk but never taught them in the next sixteen to sit down and shut the fuck up.
You never scolded them, rather you laid praise upon them with diabetic sweetness instead of firmly correcting them.
You never let them get into a schoolyard scuffle, that place where basic respect of another is learned at the end of a bloody nose.
You denied them the basic skill of dealing with somebody who was being a bully to them, instead threatening to sue anybody involved.
You would never dare to let them partake in in contact sports or in sports where a score was kept. Can’t have winners or losers you know.
You happily embraced their foray into the social media realm, after all everybody?s voice counts, their views and opinions matter and they have to be important.
You ignorant cunts, you have cheated your children of the most basic of skills required to become a respectful and responsible adult.
You have denied them the subtle yet critical skills of accepting and dealing with failure in an adult manner.
You stole the opportunity through your “Spare the Rod-Spoil the Child” outlook to instill discipline, personal responsibility and respect of self and others.
Your ideologies are the reason people commit these atrocities.
You blame a mechanical device for these atrocities but you never look at the 800# gorilla in the room-
Yourselves.
What about the pharmaceuticals he was on? Is big pharma a target?

Lets not forget the minor detail that he was a Syrian sympathizer and when they captured him he had stripped to his underwear.
Can't let anything get in the way of those 72 honey holes...

The Boulder shooter had a 3rd degree assault conviction after his 18th birthday, which in Colorado carries a maximum 18 or 24 month sentence. By federal law 18 USC 922g, that made him a prohibited person. CBI failed to send his name to NICS after this conviction, and that failure on the part of the Colorado government under Gov Hickenlooper allowed this crime to happen. CBI also failed to catch it during his recent background check.

If you're unarmed, you are a victim.
