Below current as of Jan 2024.

Signing up in advance is mandatory. https://practiscore.com/clubs/pikes-peak-practical-shooters-uspsa-club

The Pueblo West Sportsmans Assn and Pikes Peak Practical Shooters hosts IPSC/USPSA matches on the second Sunday of every month all year long. Set-up begins around 6:30 and the match start time is 9:30. Shooters registration runs from 8:30 - 9:15 so be there no later than 9:00 to be sure you get signed in.

The October match is normally a Super Classifier with 5 Classifier stages.

600 East Loma Drive
Pueblo West CO 81007

PPPS also puts on a free "New to IPSC" class before every match. This class is mandatory at all Colorado clubs if you have not shot 3-Gun, ICORE or IPSC before. The class starts at 8:00. Like the class, your first match is also free. Before you come to the new shooter class, please be sure you contact someone from the club to be 100% sure when and where to go the morning of the match.

To encourage participation, the first 5 people that show up before 8:00 *and* help with set up, shoot for free.

Sign up for these matches in advance at https://practiscore.com/clubs/pikes-peak-practical-shooters-uspsa-club

We have a cap of 75 shooters, so dont drag your feet signing up. New shooters are the ONLY walk ins that will be allowed.

Tom, do you folks always do 6 stages?

Its something my dumb ass started in the late 90s when I took over as club president. Gotta make it worth while for people to drive to Pueblo.

From the PPPS Match Director:

Tomorrow's PPPS match will be dedicated to Capt. Eddie Rhodes, Pueblo PD. Your match fees will go to dedicate the 400 meter range at PWSA to Eddie. Any extra will go to the NRA-ILA in Eddie's name as requested by his wife, Vicki.

Eddie spent a lot of time shooting his rifles on berm #5 at PWSA in preparation for cop and 3 gun matches.

In addition, Eddie was an IPSC Grandmaster and most of the "old timers" remember him fondly. Most of us remember the famous "Eddie Yell."

The match will be normal except setup will start at 0630.

New shooters' safety briefing at 0800 and shooters' meeting at 1000.

Frank Winn will have a 32 round guest stage for you shooting enjoyment.

Hope to see you at the range to support a good cause. Eddie was a good man and the kind of cop you want to show up when you need help.

LIZARD OUT

I would look like a total noob compared to that shooter. Do they have different brackets for new shooters?

Yes. And bear in mind that every person shooting the match started out as a new shooter. Without new people, our sport would wither.

ps..and some of us just shoot like new shooters.

Frank always sets up a fun stage for shooters that can't open doors and reload at the same time.
I had more fun on this match then many others in the past.

Gunner: I shoot a bone stock Glock model 17. I have never ran dry with the 3x 17rd mags that came with it. The holster I started with was an Uncle Mike's kydex thing, and I had an old 3 mag holder thingy laying around from my earlier days in the Army. I still use that same 3 mag holder.

Showing up is the hardest part.

Pueblo runs them before every match. Even if I am out of town, they still happen.

About how many rounds should I bring? This will be my first pueblo match.

A good rule of thumb is bring 200 rounds for an outdoor match and 100 for an indoor match. That way you wont run out/low.

His current assignment was as a detective in the investigations division and he has served in the jail at CJC's floor security and court and transport with the Special Response Team and on patrol.

Lots of fun yesterday. Lots of tough shooting, actually had to aim quite a bit.

Our squad had a forum member get together. There was 5-6 forum members on the same squad.

And I even decided to break out my revolver for the match. Forgot how hard it is to shoot 140-150 rounds DAO at small targets as fast as you can.

With the snow in the forecast, we decided to cancel. Not just for snow on the range, but snow on the roads getting to the range.

Hopefully we will see you in April.
