View Full Version : Current BGC Wait Times
Good morning All.
I know there is a thread out there that addresses this, but I am failing search fu.
What are the current BGC wait times this week. I'm sure they have increased a bit recently with the legislative shenanigans happening, but I am trying to plan around some travel times to complete private transfers.
An additional ask, if anyone can provide solid info: Can private transfers from 2 different transferors be included in the same BGC for the transferee?
Thanks in advance for all pertinent input.
I can't answer your question about the current wait on background checks. I do know that 2 different transactions can be handled on one 4473 as long as they are run at the same time. You might call the FFL that you use to see if they will tell you the wait time and their cost to transfer firearms from 2 different sellers.

.
yes. the transfer to you is from the FFL doing the background check. no different if you bought 3 new guns at a store, 1 from Lipsey's, 1 from Sports South, 1 from Benelli directly--they're acquired by your FFL and transferred to you
Thanks for the input so far.

BGC was 28 minutes at 12:14. Always subject to swing wildly.

is there a way to check the wait times other than thru an FFL?
Many FFLs refuse to process private party transfers... the last time we had a BGC done (several years back) we needed to wait 3 days for it to clear, and had a deadline to pick it up (an hour and a half drive one way) or were told we'd need to begin the process all over again.

"A transferee cannot accept possession of the firearm from an unlicensed seller until CBI approves the transfer. The transfer must be completed within 30 days of that approval."

Yeah, IIRC they told us 72 hours after approval.

If you have an FFL that will do the transfer at 9am when the system opens you can expect it to be fast. It will build through out the day. I did one on Sunday at 9am and was the first in the system, seemed almost instantaneous.
