I'm trying to narrow my options for a riser mount for my M4 DPMS upper with fixed front site and ran across these composite ones by Tapco. Anyone had experience with them? I want to mount a 3-9x40 scope on my carbine for targets and p-dawgs out to 200/250 yrds.

I've seen some low cost risers from leapers and higher priced ones from Yankee Hill. Up for feedback on the direction I'm heading. Scope I'm checking out is the NCStar Mark 3, Compact Tactical, figuring I should be good with a 3-9x40 scope for out to 250 yrds.

I'm new to the AR15 set up so realize scope mounting, mounting height and scope size all play pretty important roles on these rifles.

Thanks.

Whatever you can do (combine with that and rings or just buying a Mount) to bring the center of the scope 1.5inches above the top of the upper rail will be your best bet.

I use http://www.lg-outdoors.com/proddetail.asp?prod=SS_22742 on my AR-.22 setup with a Bushnell 3-9x40

Hey Doc, how well does that mount return to zero after remounting like the website's description says it will?

Colt AR-15/16 Flat Top Mount (MFG# 15150),Base complete with integral rings. Attaches to gun's dovetail by large thumb screw knobs. Base is installed and removed with zero change.

Theres a pin inside the mount thats stops it from free floating across the rail. As for returning zero after a remount, as long as you know your markings and the scope you have isnt crap, it should stay true.
