View Full Version : Ammo prices dropping?

Anyone else seeing ammo prices dropping?
I just ordered 10 boxes of 9mm for $11.12 each (new ammo, brass, not steel case or berdan primed either) and a brick of .22lr for $26.
Those are damn near pre-pandemic prices. When you account for inflation that's a screaming deal.
I'll post the link in Buyer Intel (it's 2A warehouse.)
Wonder if this means all the hyper production of ammo has finally resulted in something of a glut?
Or is it just a fluke?
EDITED TO ADD: Since the question was asked, shipping + tax came to $17.57. That's UPS to my home. I think that's pretty reasonable.

Make sure you are adding tax + shipping + any other seller induced fees when comparing ammo prices.

Updated original post to show shipping cost ($17.97.)
BTW in case anyone is wondering why I use "by the box" instead of "per round" it's because for me at least it makes it easiest to figure in my head and to run comparisons. Back in the 2008 - 2011 time frame, pre Sandy Hook, I was buying 5.56 / .223 for about $5 - $7 box of 20 (for steel-case, berdan primed non reloadable ammo) and around $8 - $10 for a box of 50 9mm (again, steel case Wolf or Tula, berdan primed and non-reloadable.) So that is my "base" for "cheap ammo."
FYI I’ve bought at Crate holdings ammo. Free shipping on $250+ and tax was low.

Normally you break it down to the round. Because pistol ammo comes in 20 50 100 and 200 round boxes. And bricks from 333 to 550.

Picked up some Federal AutoMatch 22lr from SG Ammo recently for .067/rd taxed and delivered(10 box 325 qty).
2A Warehouse has had some Armscor 22lr for similar or slightly lower price as well.
Overall ammo prices seem to have bottomed at 30% over prepandemic prices.
Most factory ammo is still too high for my tight azz.
If you're unarmed, you are a victim.

I was at my local Murdoch's (of all places) with a $40 gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket, and they had a glut of ammo. Probably a better section than Cabela's. I ended up buying three boxes of defensive 9mm.
My two thoughts: Ammo panic over (for now) and I've found my new favorite "go-to" ammo retailer.
They also had a new production 3" Python for $1499. Not a bad price.

$0.26/rnd of 9mm shipped is pretty typical right now. It's been settled there for the last few months. I've been hoping it'll squeeze a just a little bit lower...

BHO is good to go when they run their sales. I ordered 400 rds (200 Remington, 200 Tula in a bundle) of .223 55gr stuff. Total shipped was $160 (.40 cpr).
Brownell's had a good sale on 9MM a few weeks ago. Just a few cents under $225 per 1000 shipped for Remington 124gr. I got two cases of that.

lots of "deals" from good sellers. I bought 2000 of 9mm last month for .25 a round delivered. Of course I still reload 9mm lead for a dime.

I like that. Thanks!
I have been able to pick up 5.7 for less than $29 a box (plus shipping) as compared to the $50+ a box I have seen it locally.

Would be interested in that deal... Where did you find it?
bullet and powder prices and availability, have dramatically improved in the last 6 months... primers not so dramatically, albeit still improving. I've never seen Cabela's ammo inventory so good... ever... the prices aren't very good yet, but because their stock is just sitting on the shelves, they'll keep dropping a little at a time.
