18-20 purchase ban, red flag expansion, industry legal exemption removal and 3-day waiting period.
And the lawsuits will be soon to follow. Heard that Tom Mauser and the rep from RMGO got in to a shouting match on the steps of the capitol today.

Good. What happened to Mauser's son is tragic, but his multi-decade attempt to restrict the rights of same, moral and responsible citizens is offensive.

Just saw this. Makes my stomach ache but it wasn't unexpected as we have detailed and argued about in these pages.
On a brighter note, my buddy in Pueblo owes me a shiny 50 cent piece. We bet on the shield law.
50 cents versus having every gun dealer in Colorado open to lawsuits... I truly wish I had lost.
When do they become effective?

Not that more 9 people on COAR give a rip about more restrictive gun laws, but after today, there is a high likelihood that ghost guns will also become illegal.

Asking the same.
Passing through Salida tomorrow and want to browse the gun shop there.

Looks like Oct 1 2023 for the waiting period, pending a referendum being filed. Does not apply to pre-1899 or C&R.

In some good news, a US District Court judge granted plaintiffs a preliminary injunction that prevents the new Illinois AWB and "hi-cap" magazine ban unconstitutional. He said the mags were essential to operation of the gun, therefore the magazine is basically an "arm", they're in common use and can't be banned or considered separate of the guns. Pretty important ruling. We'll see this come up on the SCOTUS schedule in the not-too-distant future.

Virtue signaling. If Mauser was actually interested in mitigating these tragedies he?s looking in the wrong place. When he concludes it?s a harden heart that precipitates these tragedies he might get it. Guns don?t kill, people kill. Gun control and the restrictions seen elsewhere in states like NY, IL, NJ Chicago, Baltimore, Atlanta and Washington D.C. etc has not improved or mitigated the regular occurrences of gun violence. Chicago has a mass shooting regularly, but nothing from the lame stream media. Ranting?

[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] interesting how Polis office frames it as a ?loophole? in the law permitting those under 21 to purchase a rifle. Everything happens to be a loophole that the Democrats feel compelled to close when they fail to address the root causes.

I filled out my first 4473 about a month after turning 18 in 1994. It may come as shock to urban progressives, but it wasn't a damn "loophole", it was exercising a civil right that is entrusted to sane, moral and responsible young adults

The only reason you are allowed to say that is because of the "free speech loophole" in the Constitution. [Sarcasm2]
Seriously, we should have seen this coming.
It's a pet peeve of mine but IMO we started down this road back in the 1980's when we raised the drinking age to 21. When I was 18 I could drink legally (albeit only 3.2 beer) but the notion that those under 21 are not "full adults" and thus not entitled to full civil rights is the basis for the 21 drinking age.
Unfortunately, many conservatives supported the 21 drinking age because "think of the CHILDREN!!!!!" I've never supported it and I still don't.
An 18 year old is considered an adult when he commits a crime but if he is found in possession of alcohol he is charged - AS AN ADULT - with "underage possession." How stupid is that?
IMO "adulthood" is a binary condition: You either ARE an adult or you AREN'T. There's no "almost" an adult, "sort of" an adult or "maybe" an adult. If you are an adult and have reached the age of majority you should be able to do every thing an adult is entitled to do. Period. No conditions, no restrictions.
The solution to this, IMHO, is to create an "age of majority" that EVERYTHING that differentiates a child from an adult is based upon.
So, by statute, define that nothing can be tweaked individually.
So drinking age, voting age, cigarette age, firearm purchase age and anything and everything else is based upon the age you become an adult can't be set on a case-by-case basis.
That'll make some folks think before tampering with it.
As the previous poster stated, you can be an adult in one case and a child in another.

The same ignorant self-imolators who wanted the legislature to raise the firearms purchase and possession age to 25 also wanted the voting age lowered to 16. Non-sequitor much?

Such as the age of consent is 17 but any child younger than that can choose "gender reassignment" surgery?
I agree with you- make one age for everything.
We have all known incredibly responsible teens and incredibly irresponsible adults.
Laws have little influence on the outliers of society.
Sounds like RMGO got at least one judge to listen that has a brain. Age limit law is on hold until while a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality plays out. Hopefully in the end a win for the good guys.
