It's been a really looong time since I knew anyone with a kid graduating from high school. Need some suggestions-thinking cash-as to what would be an appropriate amount. The family are neighbors, great folks and their daughter is a great kid, will be heading off to college. Thanks for any ideas, I have a couple of weeks.

I say cash is good to go. Gives them the flexibility to choose what they want or need. As far as how much to give that?s between you and your budget and your personal relationship with the recipient. Typically when I gift money I my nieces or nephews for graduation I give them $50.

When I graduated in 2004 almost everyone gave me cash 50-100$. I think I used all that money to party my ass off all summer lol. Though one person did give me a picture frame. We just moved recently and I actually came across the picture frame with a photo of me and friends from right after graduation in a random box that I’ve had forever. So I guess ultimately that was the best gift I got.

This. Cheap (relatively), but unique and memorable. Large portions of society have never seen, much less owned 1oz of Silver.

I give the appropriate year silver eagle. For close relatives/friends, I give them a card and some cash on top.

How about a nice semiautomatic carbine and a appropriate training regimen.

I don't remember whether it was 16 or 18, but my dad got me a multitool (Leatherman type of thing) with my name engraved on it, maybe not the greatest for a young woman but for a young man could be a good gift.
