News article the other day said the migrants here, and heading here will cost the state $20 million dollars to care for them. Thats super.

how is that even possible for one busload of people? say there were 40 people on the bus (just for round numbers)--if you handed each of them $500K, they'd be set for life

Don't understand why Denver is obligated to spend anything on criminal trespassers

On more than one occasion across multiple administrations, Denver has put its problems on a bus to California. This is a thing that predated even Texas and Florida. No reason it can't be done again.
Well, they are a sanctuary city.. Can't wait 'til the buses show up in Boulder.

Executive Order 142 is a place to start.

Though I find the inevitable conflict between the busees and the existing vagrants curiously interesting, I also will have two kids at Boulder High starting over the summer, so I would prefer no busees.

Denver has never officially declared itself a "sanctuary city" by using that term.
I think because they could lose federal law-enforcement money if they did.

Don't understand why Denver is obligated to spend anything on criminal trespassersSelf proclaimed Sanctuary city, started back in Webb admin. City council has defended it every step of the way.
Denver voters compete well with Boulder voters in stupid dept.
If you're unarmed, you are a victim.
The Liberals are all crying about how Colorado doesn't want to release more wolves in the mountains.
I think we might need to release them Downtown soon.
Just keep 'em all away from Parker please.....
Denver is not technically an official "sanctuary city" but as city policy goes they are a sanctuary city by definition as they do not enforce immigration laws nor honor federal detainer requests. They are trying to play both sides.

They are just here to pick crops in the farm fields. Remember they use the pronouns hee/haw
They don't drink Bud Light!

I am still wondering about the news release last week, that the city has spent 16 million on 9 thousand migrants so far this year.
That equates to about 1776 dollars per person.
Does that number sound familiar and does it seem high?
What I have seen on the news is people meeting the bus, giving each person a bottle of water, people crammed into shelters with a cot and a blanket, a meal dished out or in a cardboard box, and multiple volunteers talking to them.
What money is being spent and where is it going?

Newcomers Fund
https://rcfdenver.org/blog/rose-announces-newcomers-fund-to-support-incoming-migrant-population/
"Contributions to the Newcomers Fund will support nonprofit and government organizations that are providing services such as emergency shelter, basic needs such as food and clothing, medical needs, workforce and employment opportunities, wraparound services like translation and interpretation, transportation to local appointments, volunteer coordination, legal services related to immigration proceedings, integration supports, transportation to reunite with family members in other states, etc."
"Key partners to date include the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado, Mile High United Way, and The Denver Foundation, which houses the Denver Immigrant Legal Services Fund, providing funds for legal service needs within the city of Denver."
Like most "non-profits" and NGOs, a lot of money goes in and not much pops out the other side.

I wonder how much money and social services are given to those that come here legally through the proper process.
Not one dollar should be given to these organizations. They are the only ones getting rich.
