Does anybody know if they are planning to run active security screening checkpoints (with metal detection) for the Nuggets parade and rally?

Did anybody go to the Avalanche event last year? Based on what can be found online, they appear have the same organization and supposed restrictions.

That would be pretty tough to do along the entire route. I can see it Civic Center Park.

I can't imagine going down there and I am a big Nuggets fan. My dislike of crowds outweighs my love of the team.

In prior similar events the only screening has been at Civic Center Park.

I am a fucking lemming. I decided to reluctantly disarm per the "requirements" so my son and I could attend. Of course, we are sitting on the Civic Center lawn right now and not a screening checkpoint to be seen. I will say it again, I am a fucking lemming.

Yes, I did. In order to ensure a positive experience for my son, I followed the "rules". The last thing I wanted was to get to the Civic Center and be greeted by a bunch of Garrett wielding goons, even though logic told me they wouldn't be able to have such a set-up. Of course, on the way back to Union Station, we walked right by the double shooting scene with nice pools of fresh blood on the sidewalk.

Anyway, it was fun, and we survived.

Denver is such a wholesome and lovely city. Polis and Handcock should be so proud of what they have created.

I caught part of it on the tv.

It made me happy when Mayor Hancock was introduced and all I heard was boos.

It looked a LOT of people were there.

.455- we need a report.

Sounds about right. Keep it classy Denver.

The crowd pushed a cop in front of the fire truck Jokic was riding on. He may lose his leg.

I hate crowds.

We caught the B line light rail at 6:43 am from the Federal Park & Ride. It had a few passengers that were mostly Nuggets fans. The walk from Union Station along the mall was fine, though we went directly though what would later be one of the shooting scenes at 16th & Curtis, arriving at the Civic Center just before 8 am. There were maybe 2000 in the crowd at that time. We were on the north side near the camera boom. I intentionally selected a spot with our backs to a temporary fence so we wouldn't have people immediately behind us. Plenty of room until after 9am when the crowed started to pack and tighten. Polis also got the boo bird chorus, which was outstanding. Personal space definitely got completely violated, being nut to butt most of the time. Some of the women there should have been arrested for obscenity by having body types that are not appropriate for yoga pants. Too much pot smoke. I am 6'3" and still had a challenge seeing well due to the crowd. Coach Malone was completely hammered and Vic Lombardi trolled the Lakers, both of which were outstanding. There was a medic stationed next to us, which was good since there were at least two nearby drops. I believe it was the most crowded environment I had been in since Time Square for the 1998 to 1999 New Years celebration at age 22. Anyway, it was a good life experience for my son, who now is of the opinion that he has checked the box for such an event. It was pretty surreal being disarmed while walking back past a shooting scene with an 18 inch diameter blood puddle. Never again. We just missed one of the return trains, so waited in the underground bus station. They have a men's bathroom attendant who limits occupancy to two patrons at a time, even though there are four "stations". She claimed it was due to people "doing drugs, having sex, and trying to kill each other". I was only pissing, but I am pretty sure while washing your hands you can watch people wiping their ass due to the stall "safety doors". The ride back on the 2:08 pm train was more crowded, but completely uneventful.

Go Nuggets!

Glad you had a good time, the crowd size was amazing on TV. Your narrative is appreciated as well, very interesting experience.
Great memories for you and the son for sure.
