This is unreal, I'm not a huge country music fan but this guy is good and I hope CMT faces a huge backlash from this coward decision.

CMT pulls Jason Aldean's 'Try That in a Small Town' video as leftists lose their minds over its anti-crime, anti-woke message - TheBlaze (https://www.theblaze.com/news/cmt-pulls-jason-aldeans-try-that-in-a-small-town-video-as-leftists-lose-their-minds-over-its-anti-crime-anti-woke-message)

Not a fan, but I checked out the video... nothing extremist or controversial about it at all.

Rush Limbaugh called it out in the day.

What they call “Country” music now is nothing more than “Hick-Hop”. It’s garbage, it ain’t Country.

A corporate overreaction to the woke twitter mob.

I doubt anyone that is "outraged" had even heard the song before now, despite its being released in May.

Paramount likely will tell CMT to quietly start running it again so as not to suffer like Bud Light did.

Corporations are learning that boycotts from the left often are slacktivist bluster with very little consequence. But when the right gets riled up, it can have much more long lasting financial effects.

Sheri Redstone is the head of National Amusements which is a parent company of Paramount. She seems to be left of center but not a raging leftist lunatic. It looks like she probably puts business above politics.

I read there was some concern musicians might be replaced by AI. Sounds like downtown San Francisco retail has died too. I believe in some small towns in Colorado, if you bring woke protests, you will get your ass beat. They won't let you trample their livelihood. Mess with their children and they will have no mercy.

I listened to most everything from the Johnny Cash era to the early 2010s. Not a big fan of the 50s crowd, Williams, Pierce, etc. I like the different forms; Country Western, Southern rock, bluegrass, the outlaw guys were some of my favorite. In the modern era, I really liked Brooks and Dunn and Alan Jackson along with several others. The industry started that hip hop background music this past decade; that shit is horrible.

The looney left is loosing their minds over Luke Combs cover of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" cause, "race."

Tracy herself is said to be thrilled. Plus they figure at least $500K in royalties to her on the playtime/streaming.

FWIW, I don't really follow country or any of the other shit, just what I see on The 5 or Gutfeld!

Majority of songs produced in the last 20 years that I like I have no idea who performer is.

I feel like a "music curmudgeon". [Rant2]

Can't stand current cuntry muzak. Country western, honky tonk, outlaw, high lonesome...I'm down with.

That said, don't know or care about the "empty hat". Looks like CMT is sending JA through the roof. More power to him.

When will the outrage culture take the short bus and get dropped off in the middle of the desert? [Sofa]

Boone said the average American who is trained to use firearms should be able to defend themselves against the criminality described by Aldean.

I'm right there with you. I have the $5/Month Sirius XM plan (in my truck) and listen exclusively to one channel...Prime country. 80s and 90s stuff only. I'd be happy if that was the only channel I got. I'm not a fan of Aldean but it's just crazy how so many people have to be outraged about something these days. I don't like listening to hood rap and I sure as hell don't like the message so many of those "artists" sing about. So I don't listen to it. It makes no difference to me if someone does want to listen to it. I don't feel the need to go out and protest and tear shit up destroy property over a song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woWzNRIBEcI&ab_channel=samstraycat11This song always filled the dance floor on Saturday nite after the county fair or the rodeo or pretty much any other small town get together. Gramps and grams, mom and dad, everybody.

I was wondering who the hell was covering her song. I knew a gal at university who couldn't stand Chapman -- talked about what a phony she was, singing as if she was ghetto when she grew up in a very privileged crowd. I just didn't like her music; can't understand why Luke Combs would do that song.

Aldean Caves To Woke Mob

https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2023/07/25/jason-aldean-controversial-music-video-edited/

The music video for Jason Aldean's massively popular "Try That in a Small Town" was quietly edited to remove images of a Black Lives Matter demonstration after critics accused the song of containing coded threats against Black people.

The video is now six seconds shorter than when it was uploaded to YouTube on July 14, and it no longer contains a news clip from Fox 5 Atlanta depicting violent confrontations during Black Lives Matter demonstrations in 2020 and subsequent protests in January.

The final 30 seconds of the original video featured idyllic rural footage including a man in a baseball cap and sunglasses looking into the sun, and an older man speaking about small-town values while sitting in a wheelchair. Neither clip appears in the new version.

That's interesting, media manipulation real-time! I wonder what the whole legal game is concerning changing a copywritten (I assume?) song or video from its 'original'

I remember them changing a few Carl's Junior Hamburger commercials several years ago, but that was for a different reason.

This is why I buy copies of the movies I want to rewatch at will on physical media. Companies are stealth-editing classic movies and then blaming it on glitches or mistakes when they're found out. My question is whether Aldean agreed to this editing or if YouTube just did it on their own. Presumably his company did the edit based on complaints since YouTube has had no problem with just flat-out blocking videos they don't like.

The clip of the riots was used without permission from fox news. They were copywrite struck and the video had to remove them.

The farmers? I don't know. Didn't really add anything.
