12 ounces in a 16 ounce box.
Maybe weigh it with the box?
Also, did you verify the accuracy of your scale with certified weights?

Actually, yes, kinda. The 100 gram test weight that came with my powder scale shows 100 grams. I don't have any certificate of accuracy for it.
The box is 1.1 ounces.
The discrepancy is hardly surprising but it's so large that it had to have been known, and thus fraudulent. Too bad there isn't a good trial lawyer here with an investigative staff tied to national media to do battle for for eddiememphis and so many others ripped off by package shrinkage and fraudulent labeling.
Packaging is very often ten to a hundred times or more of the cost of the goods inside. It's a solid argument for bulk buying.

You think I have a case? I gonna call Hank Azar!
I'll sue for the $1.35 I spent on the product and an additional $100 million for pain and suffering. I'll share it with you guys since you are the ones that actually suffer through my nonsensical posts.
It was weighed before the pasta was dried [Sarcasm2]

Let's all go buy this same pasta, weigh it and light them up online if they're all short.

If it is sold by volume then why put the weight on the box?

Why not. Remember they control the food supply. Accept the fact we're being corralled in to buying what's put out. Have you noticed the way bread taste lately, or the price of tortillia chips (in some areas) topping the $5 mark, for name branded. Or people believe they're getting a good deal when gas is below the $4 gal mark. Then get slapped with a dose of reality when i tell them. Umm no, it's still $1.50+ more since biden took office.

Kroger pasta sucks anyway. I know it's probably "brand-x" but whatever that is it must also suck.

Sold by Volume, not by Weight!.
Don't know if I've ever seen a "Sold by volume, not by weight" sign. I ALWAYS see "Sold by weight, not volume."
Went to the gas station yesterday to get 1 gallon of gas. Wanted exactly 1 gallon, so I had them set the pump from inside for that one gallon.
Went out and pumped it, I paid the full price for 1 gallon, but when i was done the pump read .98 gallons.
I was in a hurry, so I didn't go back inside and wait in line, to say anything.
I know gas stations get calibrated on a regular basis.

It's the NWO way, baby! It may identify as 1lb, but it's not really :)

I have noticed the quality of things I have bought in the past of course cost more and the quality has declined.
I recently bought some standard cotton t-shirts for work and some white socks.
The shirts are noticeably more sheer and the socks are only good for one use! They are literally shedding like a pet. I wear them once and throw them away due to all the fuzz they leave everywhere! It’s insane.
Yup, Bidenomics sure is working for the little guy.

Frozen waffles. Used to have a bit of "extra" around the outsides on most of them. Now, they don't even fill the mold all the way.

I noticed that too.

Sugar free Graham Crackers made with honey are almost 8 bucks a box. I'm cutting back on processed food loaded with sugar.

Update-
Got an email from Kroger asking for more info.
We greatly appreciate your patience in waiting for our response and I'd be delighted to assist you today. I'm sincerely sorry to learn that the pasta weight is not appropriate. I'll need just a little more information to be able to get you taken care of. Can you please help me with the following questions?
Loyalty card number used on the purchase
Date of purchase
Order number (if delivery or pickup)
Picture of the item weight
Thanks for your help with this!

Let's see if they actually take action and try to make things right - not just for this single occurrence, but to correct the behavior of the product producer as well.
I'm guessing that the producer/packager has been doing this for a while and Kroger never bothered to check. Kroger (and by default, the consumer) has probably been getting ripped off for some time.

My $5 Costco chicken last night was a biggie.
My $5 Costco chicken last night was a biggie.
Costco has replaced a few dining out events for us. Their pre made meals are quite good.
It?s probably just the new math they?re teaching the kids these days. Maybe when you have a simple problem but use some round about, three page way of solving it you end up with twelve ounces to a pound?
Silly goose - the 16oz is the cooked weight, after it's absorbed water and is all swelled up! Most likely MORE than 16oz, so look at the bargain you're getting! (Liberal logic.....)

Update-
I went to buy some dog food today and when I checked out, there was a little surprise.
Hello Eddie,
Thanks for reaching out. I'm Leonie.
I am sorry to read about the issue you are having with an item purchased at the store. I am happy to assist. In an effort to make it right for you, I have added a $5 store credit to your shopper's card for the inconvenience.
Not the best business practice- paying $5 for shorting $.40 worth of product.
However, I like to think I got two free cans of food for the pooch.
King Doops Forever!!!
(at least until I move closer to a Safeway)

It is easier to oil the squeaky wheel rather than fix the actual issue.

$5 really isn?t a big payout for hush money.
You should have pushed for free pasta for life.
You know. For the emotional trauma you received from them shorting you.
