I used Malwarebytes Free version for years but it has been having issues lately.

Does anyone have recommendations for a free antivirus?

I did try to sign up for Malwarebytes Premium but they want me to add my CC or PayPal account to GooglePay and I am wary of that...

HELP!

Built in MS antivirus and fire wall are actually fairly ok.

Never needed anything more than MS Defender with Win10 for quite a while now.

If you have existing malware, get it cleaned up and just keep MS security patches and Defender updated.

I tried using defender. But microsoft wants me to buy 365. Any work around?

I used to use ESET years ago but with my last two laptops I've just used the free antivirus that comes built in to windows and have yet to get a virus or any malware crap in the last 8 years.

Quit opening email attachments from people you don't know and you will be fine.

Didn't know that subscription was a requirement, though I do already have an O365 subscription. The 6TB* of cloud space and all the apps is well worth the annual $99.

* 1TB/user but you can embed multiple accounts and even put dropbox and google drive INSIDE the Onedrive folder.

I guess I'm a dinosaur but MS or Microsoft in the same sentence as anything related to security makes me nauseous ...

Free < Trust

The security landscape has changed a lot. I don't really trust any 3rd party "free" products, AV or otherwise. "If you don't pay for the product, you are the product". In 2023, even if you do pay, you may still be the product...
