View Full Version : Government Shutdown Clown Show
It's hard to believe the Jerkoffs in Washington let this even come close to happening. They are way too involved in the political infighting to worry about the big picture.
So, they pass a 45-day funding extension. 45 days to pull their heads out of their asses?
I found this chart online, interesting.

Both parties own this asshattery. I would gladly support a Constitutional amendment that Congress shall not leave the building, nor the President leave the Whitehouse, until a full budget is passed and signed once 30 September rolls around.

Political theater.
"I will hold my breath, stomp my feet, AND the widows and orphans, poor Military Families and Veterans will starve to death UNLESS you let me spend like a drunken sailor FOREVER.
Fuck these people. I would gladly chip in for tar and feathers because that is what is needed.

I'll see you and raise.
24 hours to pass a resolution or they will be forced to vacate their position and lifetime ban from holding any political office.

Our system was designed to make it hard for shit to pass. Good. For once they're not spending (that much) money, even if for just a while.
Unfortunately, it's all for show. Once they have all their pet projects funded, ensuring their millions upon retirement (for those that even bother) they'll pass full funding.

The crisis is over! (For 45 days)
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/senate-vote-stopgap-funding-bill-passed-house-avert-possible-shutdown
The U.S. Senate approved a stopgap spending measure to avert a government shutdown with just three hours to spare in a Saturday night vote. The final vote was 88-9.

It’s all a giant joke. “Shut down” my ass. Everyone gets paid for the days they were shut down once they get back to work. It’s paid days off.
How about the Dem Rep Jamaal Bowman (accidentally) pulling a fire alarm while senate was in session on resolving the shut down! The building was cleared for a while.
This joker, an educator, says he confused the alarm with an automatic door actuator, dumb move for someone who should know better.
If a Republican pulled this stunt, it would be all over the news.

Unless you are a contractor. And your project is not fully funded.
Our project for GSA at Fed Center is fully funded so we will not have a work stoppage even if shut down happens next month.
If you're unarmed, you are a victim.
Shutdowns are both parties holding a gun on a hostage and each thug demanding a ransom, all while each claim the other party is the "bad guy", and they are there to "save" the hostage. "I'm gunna share the ransom with 'em, I swear!"
The irony is, a good portion of people are stockholmed and will believe one of them, instead of recognizing they are being held up by two opportunists.

Our DoD sponsors have learned to plan for these shit shows and now get most contracts issued before the end of the FY.

We might have trouble getting thru the gate/security due to less man power available but job site will be open.

This whole Speaker of the House thing is a disgrace. I did like how Pelosi needs to vacate her 'private' office in the building and the interim speaker trying to break the gavel at the close of the show.
This is the kind of thing that leads to those videos you see of political members of some 2nd or 3rd world country getting into a knock down drag out fight right in the chambers.
I think the Republicans have stepped on it once again, Gaetz and his lackeys should feel proud, jerks!

McCarthy knew he was on thin ice when he started because of how many votes it took to get him the office. Turning around and passing a clean CR for the White House was clearly a slap in the face for a lot of Republicans. The Democrats are chortling now but just wait until they have to face a Steve Scalise or Jim Jordan.
The MSM is eager to say the Republicans -- and especially Gaetz -- have stepped in it. I think McCarthy stepped in it and this is the predictable and natural result.

Congress only does a few things: screw things up, steal our money and eat away at our freedom.
When they aren't fighting, they're doing all of that ^.
I'm thrilled they're too distracted to do anything. They should vote each other out of their positions every chance they get. It's the only accountability we ever get since this country has a hard-on for voting in dumbass incumbents for decades straight.
No funding bill? There shouldn't be a funding bill because there isn't any freaking money. So yeah, if there isn't any money the government spending should stop. If they'd do their damned jobs and actually stick to a REAL budget, we wouldn't have this issue.
They're measured by how many new bills they pass. F that. Every bill passed and signed into law is less freedom for us. Infighting = less laws. That's great.
I'll say it again, our system was DESIGNED to make it hard to accomplish anything because our founders understood that governments aren't friends of the people. The real problem now is not that they aren't working together, it's that they've been a little too buddy buddy for far too long. Congress working together drained us dry.

When the Congress and Country are so evenly divided in two opposing polarized parties, then a small minority can move the direction of politics.
Contrary to the principles of democracy ruled by the majority, a small minority controls the Congress.
Unintended consequences with major effects.

Funding the government with an approved budget is one of the basic functions of Congress. If you think not funding the government is in the reasonable domain of "checks and balances", I am not sure what grade of tinfoil you're using, but it's pretty thick and compressing your brain.

What this country need is more than 2 party…. The one we have don’t represent The People anymore…. If we had 3 or 4, then politicians will have to compromise with each other and build a coalition to win something. I hope this happen soon.

And that's what they're fighting about, where they should spend money that doesn't exist.
You actually WANT them to "fund" all the bullshit waste every year with money we don't have? Some wear tinfoil, others are neck deep in sand.
Damn right I'm happy anytime there's even one second they're not putting us further in debt.

Where in my statement did I say I support deficit spending?
Instead playing last minute gamesmanship and vomiting talking points, the spending levels should be hashed-out in the mid-cycle process- that's where budgetary discipline is supposed to be executed. I put that blame firmly on the heads of both parties. Political posturing on or after September 30th is pathetic and stupid.

Spot on. Term limits might be worth considering too. The last couple of years have shown that.
I really liked the temporary guy closing the session and slamming the gavel, he did it with Gusto!

Too bad America doesn't have the spine to throw all of them out of office. I hear WE NEED TERM LIMITS, like an echo chamber every time some politician steps in it. My reply is always. We have term limits, it's called Elections. Shuts them down, every time.

What this country need is more than 2 party?. The one we have don?t represent The People anymore?. If we had 3 or 4, then politicians will have to compromise with each other and build a coalition to win something. I hope this happen soon. That's not how it works. The moment you create a third party (much less a fourth, a fifth, etc.), it means all a party has to do is get the largest plurality so they drive splits between the folks who oppose them. Clinton's campaign deliberately egged on Perot's campaigns in both '92 and '96 to split the non-Democrat vote and it worked. What got us where we are today was the fact the non-Democrats can't help sniping at each other while the Dems hold firm in their unity. In primary debates, you rarely see Dems snipe at each other, they just compete for who can call the Republicans the worst names. In GOP primary debates, the candidates actually snipe at each other (while the Dems sit back and giggle).
