I?m considering reloading 7.62x39. For me this was one of the few rounds I shot because it was affordable to shoot without reloading. I won?t complain because I?ve enjoyed steel case ammo for 30 years. Anyone have a bullet suggestion? Price is a factor.

use the .311 dia bullets available for enfields. Any AK not using a US mfg bbl is .311 dia. the US "compliant" made bbls are .308. Something along this bullet weight & profile. How many components do you have, along with the dies for it?

7.62x39 is still widely available and cheaper than 5.56. How much do you shoot? I'm just stacking it when I see a deal.

So .311 and .310 dia bullets cost more than .308. Also the bulk 7.62x 39 ammo I’ve found is going for.45c a round.

Berry’s makes plated bullets but I want more velocity. And maybe I’m wrong but when I see corrosive primers I opt out.

So I’m going with 125g .308 dia Speer. I tried fitting a Speer .308 dia 130hp in the muzzle and it bit the rifling.

Well it seems I can save a few cents per round, I suspect the cheap ammo is fading into history.

You have to shop around. americanreloadingDOTcom, everglades ammo and a few others carry the .311 bullets for a good price, when available. I'm debating what to do with the x39 components i have sitting here. iirc 300+ pcs of new brass, .311 bullets, dies etc. It's one of those do i off them, or keep. Instead of saying 6 months down the road. Should have kept that x399 stuff.
But i still have unopened spam cans collecting dust.
