Long story short, an elderly friend in Colorado Springs needs a will updated.
Also needs to consolidate some debt.
Can anyone recommend a lawyer and a good financial advisor?
I lived in the Springs for 20 years, but I moved out to Southwest Kansas to
take over my in laws cattle operation and I have no idea who to go to now.
Thank You

All I can offer is I've heard that trusts are far better than wills, but I have zero experience.

from personal experience. make sure everything they own, including any property or homes are in the will and who they go to. If not, anything not documented goes to probate.
Cost the family close to $15K to resolve that issue back east.
Grant Van Der Jagh is a highly respected attorney and does a great deal of work in wills and estate planning, along with other areas of law. He and his wife are both very accomplished and office in Castle Rock.

If they have definite ideas as to who things/$$ should go to, then make sure that they have beneficiaries on everything. Bank accounts, properties, vehicles if possible.
Trusts are great as well.. Wills are still necessary.
By having properties/bank accounts have beneficiaries then that removes those assets from the Will/Probate process and those beneficiaries can claim those assets in a manner of weeks vs. a year or more with the Will/Probate process.
Even with a Will, there is still a Probate process unless the remaining estate (after the properties with beneficiaries) is under a certain $$ amount (50k ish?).
A good attorney will help navigate the beneficiary/Trust/Will pros/cons and set them up in conjunction with each other as is appropriate for your situation. We have an excellent Estate attorney, who has treated our family very fairly in regards to the value that he has provided...but he's in the South Metro Denver area. Ping me if you want his contact info.
