So he can still be in attendance at the NRA booth at the Shot Show?
That would be interesting to look in on!

That's good news. I held my nose as I renewed my membership last month.

Yet the BOD that protected him for decades is still there. Will anything really change?

If I could, I would use Hoser's avatar in my post. And yes, good riddance to him. I've been an NRA member since 1963, and have no intention of quitting. I was a regular contributor to the NRA-ILA, but stopped when I saw the dirty tricks and mounting corruption. It is not a member run organization if LaPierre, Putin, and Xi declare themselves dictator for life.

So the guy has since reimbursed the organization for embezzlement. Wow. Isn't that like a bank robber offering to return part of his heist after getting caught?

Early on, I think LaPierre did good work. I met him briefly at an NRA meeting in DC, in the late 80's, I think. At the time I thought he was a poor public speaker and should limit his words and let better reps take that role. In every TV interview and speech since, I shake my head.

I believe the corruption will not end until every officer and member of the board is forced to resign, and be expelled from membership. Every good member should demand it.

Good news but the damage has been done. Pretty sure there are quite a few more that need to be shown the door.

Let me clarify. I've gone to the "membership meeting" the last two years. Which means I've gone to see the stuff in the hall.

But except for the first time, two years ago where I watched about 15 minutes of some anti-LaPierre folks TRY and speak (via correct procedure, I'm not talking about shouting from the cheap seats) and getting shut down, I have not attended the actual membership meeting itself.

I did a quick search and found the NRA has 25 members on the board of directors. It seems that more than La Pierre's exit is needed to change things.

I'm thinking that the LaPierre prosecution will put the FoG in many of them and maybe we'll see some positive outcomes.

I wouldn’t be an NRA member if it wasn’t a requirement of the gun range. I’m excited to watch him tremble during his upcoming court case. Maybe he will pay back some of the $$$millions he stole.

I have a strange suspicion he will die from a heart attack or aneurism before he does that...

Stopped by the NRA booth at SHOT. Maybe the slowest booth there, other than the ATF. Chatted with the gentleman behind the desk, let him know what I thought of the NRA's recent political actions, or total lack thereof.
