Well, lets see.....

I was supposed to work today and tomorrow, that got pushed off to next week. Kinda sucks as I could use the work right now, but I did OK last week. That is the only blemish on an otherwise good day.

I traded some plumbing work with my neighbor who came by today and increased the size of my primary backstop by a lot! Anything which makes recreational shooting safer is a good thing!

Also, my wife had ordered a flashlight for me as a Christmas gift. It took it's sweet time getting here, but it showed up today. It is a Smith & Wesson MP3 CREE Q3 tactical flashlight. I know it is not a Surefire, but I could damn near buy a new gun for what a SureFire costs...

Anyway, it is solidly built and GODDAMN is it bright. This thing is NO JOKE! It will light up by backstop 150 yards away.. My big assed 5 D cell Maglight won't do that! Now, I just have to buy a mount to attach it to the mag tube on my beloved #870 and the nocturnal raiders of the henhouse are in deep shit...Or 3" Dead Coyote shells, if you prefer...

Oh, and I have permission to hunt coyotes on my neighbors place now too. 120 additional acres to hunt the little chicken coop raiding bastards...

Guess what I'm doing first thing in the morning.....

I hate being laid off of a good regular job, but sometimes this is OK too....

Yeah, I find I enjoy being quasi self employed and doing peice work. It isn't as steady and isn't as reliable, but sure can be lucrative. Plus, I like having time for my kids and wife..

You're an insurance guy right? What is contractor's liability insurance going for these days? Last time I took a stab at self employment, a million dollar umbrella policy was running me about $1200 per year. Thought that was pretty reasonable...

Don't know what rates are like now though....

It depends on your gross receipts. I write/quote a lot of contractors, but I don't think that I've done a plumber yet. I'll ask around tomorrow for some more info on which companies I have that will write plumbers. It depends what you do as well. $1,200 sounds reasonable depending on what you do.

Also, are you talking about a $1 million umbrella in addition to a $1 million/$2 million regular general liability policy?

Okay, so I just whipped up a fake quote for you using a Pueblo address, $45,000 in gross receipts, and the class code of "plumbing residential and domestic."

It came back with $1,709 for just you with no employees. This is for standard $1 mil/$2 mil liability. $1,200 for an additional $1 million umbrella sounds about right, but you wouldn't need an umbrella to work for your self.

Also, "roustabout" sounds too close to "layabout" and I certainly don't think that about you. Also, roustabout could be taken the wrong way as well since it refers to just unskilled manual labor, which is NOT what plumbing work is. I just recently added the word to my vocabulary and wanted to try it out. It didn't seem like you thought that, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

No problem Stu, I didn't take any offense. I figured you were just having fun with me...

Oh, yes, you are correct. I was confusing my terminology. I was thinking about a general liability policy. Don't know why umbrella popped into my head. Maybe I have a Mary Poppins fetish...[Tooth]

Thanks for working up the numbers. I'll let you know when the time comes. You seem like a decent guy and I would rather throw some business your way rather than to some random stranger.
