Whenever I see the phrase “reduce gun violence” it always makes me wonder if they’re okay with every other kind of violence.

What about the three day waiting period?
What about the three day waiting period?
Great point! I wonder if any LEO are present?

What about the three day waiting period?
When did that ridiculousness start again? They have got a couple of events under their belt already according to this link:
https://www.gunstogardensdenver.org/blog
Do they do background checks when they receive the firearms? I know that a couple groups in Boulder back in the day cancelled their planned events over this issue.
According to the site, you put the unloaded gun(s) in your trunk, drive up and stay in the car while a trained person takes them out. Too many questions about this operation.

What a lovely bunch of Karen's on their homepage.
So, if I trade in my truck I usually leave the dealership with a newer and nicer truck.
If I trade in my guns I?ll be getting nicer ones, right?
drive up and stay in the car while a trained person takes them out.
Hmm. And why would these types of people be trained to handle firearms? I thought they crapped their pants at just about thought of a firearm being in their presence?
I miss-spoke, they are 'skilled personnel' per the instructions. Also, handmade guns will be accepted and destroyed but no compensation (gift cards) will be given. I wonder what they would do with a gun that had an obliterated serial number, or if they do any number checks at all? It also states the gun will be destroyed in your presence.
Mmm, don't think I'll be going.

Someone should set up an event right next to them turning shovel heads and handles into AK-47?s.
Someone has that pic floating around.

That?s a forged receiver. The shovel handle stock is a nice touch but was probably just a repair for a broken stock.
I don?t know about a picture but I remember watching a video of a guy taking a shovel and beating it into an AK receiver.
No fair. You changed the picture while I was commenting on it.
Oh, and I think I meant a milled receiver. Not forged? I have only ever owned stamped receivers.

LOL, the original post forum post from northeastshooters is no longer valid, but I did find this one from Chive,

If there’s a will, there’s a way.
Now there needs to be a shovel turn in! Tools of war should not be in our gardens or construction sites!

I know most all of us work, and have lives, but can we organize and protest the illegal transfer of firearms that will go on at these events?

Like stand on the sidewalk where they are coming in with a sign saying transferring a firearm without a background check and the three day wait is a crime?

Something like that. And potentially calling 911, BATFE, CBI, and FBI to report illegal firearms transfers. We've been told that if you "see something, say something" for several years now.

It only illegal if you guys do it.
Honestly, while technically a transfer, if they immediately destroy the firearm no way it would be prosecuted.

Do they water their gardens with Brawndo?
If you're unarmed, you are a victim.

Well then, we should start a non-profit to "destroy" firearms and offer a buy-back event!
I recommend destroying via rapid fire barrel burn-down. Now we just need an ammo sponsor!
Someone call Brandon.
It's not illegal for a FFL to buy guns without a 3 day wait.. [Coffee]

A smart nonprofit would have an FFL evaluate each firearm turned in to determine if it was too valuable to melt down to make gardening tools, and set those aside to be sold with the nonprofit receiving half to go towards promotional materials and administrative costs.

Gun buybacks are the only form of gun control that both gun opponents and gun supporters like. There's just one problem: They don't work. Scholars have tried for years to quantify the benefit of buybacks, and they've consistently found little empirical evidence that they do much of anything to reduce gun violence at all.

I?ll bite. How do gun supporters like them? You'd have to ask David A. Graham.
Pretty sure they like them because it's a government cash for clunkers program...but for firearm owners. Some may even pickup crap just for these programs. (Exploded jimanez? Plastic lower? $60 worn out break barrel?)
I bet if they offered 500 for ARs and 300 for Glocks they'd get a lot of them... especially if they doubled the price for full auto. Glock switches are all over Denver.
Good point, I'm guessing if it were cash (anonymously) instead of food credit, there would be a higher turn in as well.
They should also offer $20 for every high capacity magazine.

I could send you a bunch of $7. pro-mags from some shady gun acc. website.

But they're "off da streetz" so everyone feels better about that... except the shady volunteer who pockets a few then finds out why no-one wants to run ProMags, lol.
