Aurora to vote on migrant resolution | FOX31 Denver (kdvr.com) (https://kdvr.com/news/local/aurora-weighing-their-own-resolution-in-light-of-migrant-crisis/)

Interesting.

Thousands of illegal aliens(aka "migrants") already reside illegally in Aurora and tens of thousands state wide illegally reside in Colorado.

While well intentioned the resolution carries no force of law. Nothing to stop feds.gov, other cities or states from loading illegals on bus and dumping them in Aurora or anywhere else.

If you're unarmed, you are a victim.

Danielle Jurinsky is a warrior.

We need 1000 more like her.

This thing passed btw .................................And Danielle Jurinsky seems to think it DOES carry the "force of law" as you call it.

"......“If you are going to bring (migrants) in here, if you’re going to bus them in here, we’re asking for an IGA (intergovernmental agreement), we’re asking for that financial support to follow. We will not be shutting down taxpayer services to fund this. So, nowhere in here does it say migrants can’t come to Aurora,” Jurinksy said.........."

Just for the debate.

Texas ships 3 bus loads of illegals to Aurora. Aurora "asks" for money, Texas replies "ha ha, no".

What force of law would compel Texas to pay?

I would say, those 3 bus loads of illegals will be standing around wherever they were dropped off at and would not receive any city paid for services. There may be some local non profits that will assist, but the city will not.

They are more likely responding to Denver sending a bus load of illegals to Colorado Springs, who promptly said and did the same thing. No city aid.

"No city aid".

As it should be.

But the illegals will still be on the streets of Aurora and they will be using/causing city resources to be used.

If you're unarmed, you are a victim.

Aurora should resolve or better yet pass an ordinance that they will round them up and send back.

If you're unarmed, you are a victim.

More than likely, the non profits who help these people will get them to where they need to be for services, most likely back in the city of Denver.

Buffalo:
Just for the sake of arguing.................
This wouldn't happen according to Jurinsky. AGAIN, to quote her, ".........we’re asking for an IGA (intergovernmental agreement), we’re asking for that financial support to follow. We will not be shutting down taxpayer services to fund this. ......"

So without that agreement in place they could:
-send them back to Texas.
-Sue Texas for the cost of the Illegals.
-send them to any of the "Sanctuary Cities"............... because to use your words, the "force of law" that was created by the Cities announcing and passing legislation to that effect, means they will accept them and not prosecute them for the Federal Law violations they committed crossing the border. And that they would provide them with Aid.

Sir: That was the whole point to the "Sanctuary City" laws being passed. It wasn't just a proclamation, it was passing a series of laws, policies and procedures to support this belief. Now, of course they are realizing the mistake.
And in response cities like Aurora are setting up legal precedents and laws to avoid having "our new Citizens" dumped on them.

Yes............. and I'm quite sure all the surrounding Cities/Counties are more than happy if our "friends" end up in Denver.
They really do have far more resources than any surrounding city.......................... :)

Well, Aurora did also vote down an attempt to make them a sanctuary city a few years back so this is not entirely surprising.

They'll go (and stay) where the money is being spent on their behalf. If they wander down to Douglas County and attempt to get services and there is none to give, they will work their way back to where the funding is for them.

Denver says it's not laying off employees, while also admitting some workers may have their hours cut to zero

From the article -

"Concerns from other council members were about the enforcement mechanism and penalties for violating this resolution, but the city attorney said it?s not enforceable because it?s not an ordinance."

I support and applaud the city's efforts but think they did not go far enough. I doubt any city or state is going to volunteer funding for the costs incurred for illegals. I also think their chances of recovering any funds from suing other cities and or states is slim and would cost a great deal.

I do think the resolution can act as some deterrent/discouragement to other cities/states but not much in reality.

Full disclosure - am a huge Danielle Jurinsky fan, have met her a few times and have a daughter who worked at one of her establishments and speaks highly of her. I believe she would like to do much more than just pass a resolution.

Last week, apparently, 5000 Mauritanians appeared in Aurora under cover of darkness, mostly military aged males.

Mauritania is a West African Muslim nation whose national pastime is robbery... and they speak a very unique and obscure language few can understand.

Are you sure it was 5000? That would get noticed.

I've watched the mosque next to me in Aurora grow from a building, to a building full of people, with overflow on the street.

As I walked by with over lunch with coworkers on a friday, people passed me waiving this green, black and red flag.

Somalia, I thought, but later I realized it was a Palestinian flag.

They are here, and growing every day.

This is not natural.

I guess I don't understand why Aurora should expect help from Texas, It seems they are trying to secure their border. The ass-hat feds are the ones responsible

Denver is getting federal funding to be a sanctuary city, and they are dumping illegal aliens in Aurora.

Aurora Mayor Mike Caufman, is not happy.

Again, libtards looking for someone else to clean up their mess. Wasn't Massachusetts Governor Healey asking residents to house illegal aliens, oh, excuse me, migrant families, in their own homes last summer? I wonder how many took her up on that?

True or not, to hell with Denver. They're getting what they wanted and now they want everyone to bail them out. I worked in downtown Denver the last 4 years before I retired and having moved here in '98 when it was a nice place I am disgusted by what they have done to it.

This is what unlimited Government spending looks like.

They may feel good, sound good, get rich etc.,

while we are all fucked.

Pure corruption, and out of bounds government.
