Basically, Google is thinking of pulling out of China because of how China controls the internet there. I think good for Google, don't let China push you around. I also think that China won't give a shit since less info for the populace is what the government is aiming for anyway.

Last i checked, China had removed their censor on google. go to google.cn (their chinese website) and search Tiananmen Square....it works. But yeah, i agree with them pulling out of china.

link for those too lazy. (http://www.google.cn/search?hl=zh-CN&source=hp&q=tianamen+square&btnG=Google+%E6%90%9C%E7%B4%A2&aq=f&oq=)

Good for Google.

We need to pay them what we owe them and then get out. The US has been in bed with China too long. It isn't good for us or our economy.

The reason Google is pulling out of China is because of the thousands of cyber attacks they've received from China. China is the largest perpetrator of cyber attacks in the world. You should see how often they attack US infrastructure.

I personally don't care about Google (NSADAQ:GOOG) nor China, but it was heck brave for GOOG to just exit the chinese mkt like that.

I was reading about this last night. I don't think the final decision has been made to pull out of China - yet. From everything I'm reading, they have decided to remove the government required filters and are supposed to try to discuss the hacking/etc. along with the restrictions before they make their final dicision.

Even if they choose to pull out, it will have a small financial impact on Google. I agree with their decision to remove the filters and, should they choose to pull out, I agree with that as well.

On the one hand, its a good thing that they're standing up to the Chicoms.
On the other hand, its bad news that I own their stock and it seems to be adversely effected by this.
On the other other hand, its good news that I own it in a Virtual Stock Exchange (http://vse.marketwatch.com) game :D

Good but... I could nerver buy into Googles excuse for alowing the censorship while they have their lame "don't do evil" motto.
Screw China and screw Google.
