View Full Version : Any recent experiences flying out of DIA with tactical-styled platforms or standard capacity mags?

Were there any issues, or just the same old process that's worked for years? I would hate to get to the separate x-ray station and find out they are targeting folks with an AR and 30 round mags as violating one of Denver's many supposed restrictions.

Flew out last August with same type of setup, no issues.

Everything has changed in the past month. North Security is now a level higher and on the west side. Signage for TSA Precheck was poor. Long lines, lots of confused people including staff. Can't comment on guns but I'd suggest allowing extra time. Reminds me of when they installed the automated baggage system.

Gun process is about the same for the last few years. Flew out/in this week. Still have to go with it to the scanner and wait for the thumbs up. Coming back, had to wait at the OVER SIZE. door for the airline rep.to bring it out.

It's been close to 2 months now (Feb 6) and seems to have settled a bit.

That said, I run through Clear and I've only seen 1 busy time during Spring Break (flew Mar 9 morning to PHX) and flown nearly every week since it opened.

West South is general security.

There's also DEN Reserve that's a reservation system for non Pre/Clear travelers.

There's a new bin/conveyor system that seems to me as inefficient, but perhaps not. I'm sure getting a lot more secondary and "random" secondary screenings.

I don't know how the firearm screening may have been affected by all the construction and rearrangements.
