I?m looking for a flotation device, life jacket, for my Labrador. There?s a huge range of prices. I was inclined to purchase a Ruffwear, but they retail for $90 where other brands retail for $20 - $50. I?m not opposed to spending the money on a Ruffwear but the price difference and my lack of experience with canine flotation devices is giving me pause.

We?re taking the dog with us to Wisconsin where we are likely to spend hours on a lake on any given day, I?ve never had a dog in the water for that long and think a good life jacket is a good idea.

Do you have an opinion on a good jacket for him?

edit: misspelled flotation on the title. Oops. [MOD: FIFY]

I know nothing on the subject specifically, but...

Do your homework on these. Find the best one with the best rated flotation - even if it provides just barely a little more safety, but costs 3x as much - that's the one to buy. Should anything happen, you'll always know you provided the best possible safety device.

I got flotation devices for my Corgis from Ezy Dog. Very happy with them and the other things I've bought from them like harnesses and leashes. Top quality stuff.

Labs are pretty much born in the water. Not sure i'd worry about it.
