Was in the Arizona republic in 6th grade for a YMCA group where they took kids out with Honda sponsored dirt bikes...

Was on the news a hand full of times in Phoenix investigating roll over accidents when I was with the Highway Patrol...

I didn't feel very special...

I used to carry a newspaper clipping reporting my death in a car accident in 1973. The report was in the paper two days after the accident.

And a television station in Minneapolis reported I was killed in an airplane accident on thier afternoon news show. This was in 1975. Fortunatly my folks had the correct info before then.

I ain't dead yet. Oh and I don't do boats or water stuff.

...named several times over several days in the denver post newspaper about two years ago... no photos thankfully, I don't think my name was brought up on the talk shows, but I kinda just turned everything off and didn't listen for a while. Was mentioned like 58 times in a 90 page affidavit for a court case related to the situation I won't mention here. It didn't turn out good for someone, but it wasn't me. Spent about 3-4 months hiding from the news reporters... no fun.

Remember to never put your personal information on a police report that has to do with work related items. stupid stupid stupid... use the work information.

couple other misc. times in local neighborhood papers for high school drunk driving awareness types of things... nothing special.

Dead man walkin! (Sorry, but someone had to say it.)

Boy Scouts National Court of Honor: Certificate of Heroism and Medal for Meritorious Action for saving a toddler from drowning in a winter lake when I was 12.

I have a similar story. My biggest claim to fame was when I was in the Scott AFB paper for saving a guy from drowning in the base pool. It was during a pool party with the Med Group and there was a Life Guard on duty. The Life Guard didn't budge and when I pulled the guy out of the deep end then out of the pool and he wasn't breathing, it took the computer geek (me) to clear the guys airway and get him breathing again. Of course, the newspaper story mis-quoted me and made me look really stupid.

I've been in papers here and there for piddley little crap that I can't even remember.

too bad he has drifted from his roots. i told him at my folks 80th b-day, he was loosing support from those who put him into office, based on his gun law "ideas"

my old man was NYPD, like his dad. there were some many famous/actors, broadway folks i met when a kid in the city we don't have enough room.

Juliet Prowse signed an autograph for him when he was her "bodyguard" it read

he recovered Mickey Mantle's world series ring after a break in.

Well, I wrote this:

http://www.airforcetimes.com/community/opinion/airforce_opinion_letters_070702/

I've been in a couple of AF base papers for exercises and LE actions that happened on the various bases. (Insert the 'spankin the monkey' emotacon here.)

I helped catch these guys too (not as much as the ATF and FBI, but I worked my ass off on the case), but didn't make the press release. Then again, who the hell knows who OSI is...[ROFL1]

http://www.justice.gov/usao/co/press_releases/archive/2006/January06/1_26_06.html

Helped the Marshals transport this punk ass bitch to Florence. OSI didn't make the papers again... [Tooth] But, in fairness, we did bring him in at 0230 through the base side of the airport to avoid the news vans camped out on the other side of the airstrip.

What a great thread with some really interesting stories! I'm just kind of a nobody but have had some cool stuff (to me, anyway) happen in my life.

By far the biggest thing is (it didn't happen to me but it's probably the most proud I've ever felt in my life):

#1 - Was with my youngest son when he was told he'd won a Bronze Star w/Valor in the battle for Fallujah as an A1C.

Now for my mostly lame stuff:

-Married to my wonderful wife for 20 years
-Presented Meritorious Service Medal by Caspar Weinberger in 1983
-Several articles published in Denver Post re: police stuff
-Got sued for $16 Million by a little scumbag who lost big because he couldn't keep his lies straight
-Lots of other awards from Electronic Security Command and Air Weather Service and cop stuff

I saved a guy's life once. His crazy pregnant wife had lost it, jumped on his back, and was strangling him. He didn't fight back under the "if your wife tells the MPs you hit her, you are guilty no questions asked" rule and had turned purple and fallen down before I pried her arms away from him. There's a point beyond which you can't keep saying to yourself "I soooo do not want to be here or be involved in this situation!" I moved back into the barracks the next day.

The M901 Improved TOW Vehicle that was on display (as of a few years back, dunno if it's still there) in front of 3rd Bde chow hall at Ft. Carson used to be mine, though my old roomate had it last before they museum-pieced it. :)

You can't find me in Google searches because the other guy with my name is (err...was) reasonably well known, and then a famous putz, so I can't have any claims to actual fame.

Hmmm lets see....

My mom's side of the family is English Royalty from the Montague line (of course this is of absolutely no benefit state-side. haha)...

When I was born I was given a gift by the princess of Russia who was a close friend of my.... Grandmother.

My grandmother was also a complete hippie, did LSD with Timothy Leary, and at one time had Che Guevera, among other controversial political figures, staying at her house.

My Grandfather was won of the founders of the original surfing movement in california, and maintains a friendship with Greg Knoll today.

I won the Nevada State speech meet when I was in 5th grade for memorizing the Declaration of Independence, and took 2nd the previous year for memorizing the Gettysburg Address.

My dad's side of the family is directly related to Eric the Red, a viking who is thought to be the first non-native to set foot in the Americas.

and aside from that,

I have a wonderful fiance, a good job, and I strive to make everyday better than the last.

Won a .22lr national shooting competition waaaaay back in middle school.

Won state competitions in high school for music related stuff so I was in the newspaper quite a bit.

Broke every bone in my body in a car wreck junior year of high school. That was in the paper too. (And I still graduated on time!)

I was the first one to jump into Invesco Field. The FAA wanted what we call a "Wind Dummy" ( their terminlogy was test jumper) to see if it was feasible with all the cables and what was my recommendation for wind limits into the stadium. Easy jump but they made more of a big deal than it was. It was just another jump for me.

Oh - I forgot - met Ted and Ace Frehley didn't get to jam with them tho... bummer.
Also appeared in Bass Player and Guitar Player magazine in an advertisement for Pedulla basses.
I have burned off a few brain cells I suppose - too many years on the road doing my laundry in a different crappy laundromat every week. (That is the excuse I am going to use at least.)
