View Full Version : Where to rent a SCUBA tank for the weekend?
I need a scuba tank for a weekend camping trip, so that three kids can recharge a pellet rifle in the woods. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to get one in the metro area today?
If you happen to have one for sale, please let me know. It'll need to have either a non-expired DOT inspection date so that I can refill it, or at least be fully pressurized if it's expired.

I have one I'd sell. What pressure do you need? If its for a PCP rifle most SCUBA tanks do not go high enough.

Dang it. If I were in town I would let you borrow my 100cf, 4500psi carbon fiber tank. Keep me in mind for future trips, or for other PCP rifle tips and tricks. I’ve been shooting them for years and am quite an addict.
Newracer, the man we got this Walther Olympic-style rifle from for the weekend, said his tank is pressurized to 3,000 p.s.i. and while gave us a SCUBA adapter, he didn't have a spare tank to go along with it. The adapter he gave us uses what he called the "European" style threads on the tank valve. If that's what you have for sale, and it has about 3,000 psi in it, or a non-expired DOT inspection date, then please let me know how much it costs.
Colorider - thank you, that's really nice of you! I'll probably be in touch later with some technical questions about this type of rifle and to ask for advice on purchasing one and picking the right sighting system.

It needs a new hydro cert but it is almost full right now. It has only been filled once. The threads are standard ?”-14 NPSM
I bought it new in 2015 for $400, I'd take $200.
Thank you, Newracer. I'm going to stick with a rental until I buy my own pellet rifle. Have a great weekend!
There is a scuba place off of Bellview & Windemere in Englewood. Might check them out.
Have you tried a SCUBA shop? There are quite a few of them in the Front Range area.
Ok, I gotta ask - how the hell can you get that much PSI in a tank? Never seen a compressor like that.

Wish I'd seen this yesterday. I have 2 that I think have been pressurized since the last time I got them checked (way too long ago).

Some scuba shops have a compressor that is able to 4500psi. Also, some fire stations have them. I get mine filled at a scuba shop in Broomfield. It takes a while as they do a fill, cool the tank town, then top it off. My carbon fiber tank is an scba, instead of a scuba. Expensive, but well worth it as I got tired of lugging a heavy and bulky scuba tank around. There are several portable compressors on the market now that can fill it, and I have one ordered. Couple hundred bucks, but makes it more convenient when I need to top off my scba tank. Trust me, this PCP rifle stuff is a deep rabbit hole. But also a total kick in the butt fun. I shoot about 500 pellets a week. Even have night vision on the silly rifle.

There is a shop in Parker that specializes in PCP rifles if anyone is interested in seeing these things in person. The owner is a great guy and is a ton of help with questions, and knowledge. I popped in a few years ago to look at a FX brand rifle I was “interested” in getting. After an hour of chatting with him and fondling a lot of rifles, my wallet was $2000 lighter and I walked out with an incredible rifle and deal. He even custom tuned it for me for the weight and type of pellet I like to shoot. At 50yds, it shoots 22cal 18gr pellets hole in hole accurate.
Here’s a link to his shop. Go visit him. He has some incredible air rifles there.
