Anyone else notice how few of personal fireworks were fired off last night. It was very quiet around these parts last night.

Yeah, I didn't notice that in or within 1/2 mile of my neighborhood last night.

In fact, I commented to the wife that there must have been 50 or more truckloads of high artillery booming fireworks going off consistently from 8-midnight. Seems like millions of dollars got infused to the Cheyenne, WY economy just from the fireworks COS residents had.

Probably one of the heaviest years of fireworks within earshot I've experienced in COS.

Same here in west Montrose! We were able to watch multiple fireworks displays all at the same time! The Montrose city show seemed less exciting than previous years. Budget cuts??

No shortage of fireworks here in wellington. Even with the constant police potrols of the nehiborhood handing out tickets.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Despite more than 250 calls regarding illegal fireworks in Colorado Springs in the past few days, it is hard for police officers to crack down on those breaking the law.

A spokesperson for the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) tells 11 News they received 251 calls tied to illegal fireworks since June 30.

“We only wrote one citation,” a spokesperson with CSPD wrote to 11 News. “This is due to a few factors but the primary reason is that the way the ordinance is written our officers have to physically see someone light the firework for them to write a citation. Often, by the time our officers arrive at the call for service people are not setting them off right then so we can’t write a citation. However, we do confiscate and educate.”

All types of fireworks with a fuse and requiring a flame for ignition are unlawful in Colorado Springs, only novelty items like snappers and poppers are allowed.

One adult was “seriously” injured and one child had minor injuries in separate fireworks accidents, according to SMFR.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A Colorado fire department is reporting they responded to more than 40 fires on the night of July 4.

South Metro Fire and Rescue (SMFR) says that between 6 p.m. and midnight on Thursday, they were called to 45 fires.

“Most of the fires involved grass or mulch, and most were caused by fireworks,” SMFR wrote on social media.

One adult was “seriously” injured and one child had minor injuries in separate fireworks accidents, according to SMFR.

The department added that on Friday they responded to another small grass fire likely started by a firework.




Overall I can tolerate all of the fireworks, but... I don't want to find fireworks residue in my yard (putting my home at risk of fire) and they really need to stop by 2300 (11PM) - because folks have to get some sleep (especially since Friday was a work day for many).
