I few days ago, I went by my LGS and bought a few boxes of CCI 22 Short CB, they were $13.99 each (100 rounds). Got an email from CCI saying stock up. I looked at the email and MSRP went up a buck a box since the last time I ordered a case from CCI about a month ago? WTF?

Inflation has not slowed. Manufacturers raise prices to get ahead of the next price increase for supplies.
The consumer and those of us on fixed incomes have our standard of living eroded bit by bit.
This so reminds me of the raging inflation in the 1970s,but worse.

Buy ammo now if you need or will need it.

Metals seem to be on the way back up. Considering that most people think the economy is going to slow, that is not what you’d expect.

I noticed the cci price increase also on 22lr the other day. I only shoot mini mags and blazer 22lr now. The last few years bulk pack 22lr is just filled with duds.

I used to like the Remington Bucket of Bullets, but duds increased to 10%, so I tried Aguila. Meh, just as crappy. Found some Browning 22 and it’s dirty and crappy too. Any experience with better bulk pack in the 6 to 7 cent a round?

The Eley ain't cheap but once you shoot it you dont want to go back to cheap.

It's Hoser's fault.

If you're unarmed, you are a victim.

My kids and I tried all the big name bulk packs and they are all shit now except the blazer 36gr 525 packs are pretty decent. The 40gr boxed bricks of blazer are as good as cci in our experience but they are 40-50$ now. If I can find the blazer cheaper than mini mags I buy it or just buy mini mags now. Clearing 4-5 jams a mag ruins the shooting experience, so I just fork over a few more $$$ to avoid that.

Supply and Demand has an impact as well. We have the Vista outdoors crap hanging out there, the Remington come-apart, a ban on all russian imports (which means demand is filled mostly with domestic production), and then we have an actual peer v. peer war that we are supplying with a large amount of ammunition.

So even though 22LR isn't being fed up into these, the resources of the manufacturers are stretched thin.

Then we have 70% of the national revenue paying our credit-card interest, and the country printing the GDP in new currency every year, and...

Might be wise to invest in ammunition instead of precious metals. Inflation isn't likely to slow down too much re: it for a lnog time.

Another fun thing about guns/ammo in general is it's a bit more resistant to recession than most things... when the economy turns down and things start falling apart, guess what people want? A feeling of security anywhere they can get it....

Ammo IS precious metals.

I don't know about ammo (I don't buy much factory ammunition) but gunpowder has gotten extremely expensive. Once it's over $50 per pound, I'm pretty much just not going to buy it...

Powder is indeed going nuts, Varget and 4064 are both north of $50-60. I'm glad I stocked up back in the old days, but it's outpaced inflation by a fair margin now.

Accurate. Guns and ammo tend to hold fairly well (and outpace market value when people panic), and are essentially recession proof unless you're holding on to 10,000 rounds of some crazy oddball stuff.
