I was wondering what was up with this ballot measure since I saw someone collecting signatures for "open primaries". We already have open primaries in Colorado.
What it really calls for is
Establish top-four open primary elections and ranked-choice voting for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, governor, attorney general, secretary of state, treasurer, Colorado University board of regents, state board of education, and state legislature
Ranked choice voting -- that's what they really want. This is how Alaska ended up sending a Democrat to DC. They know the majority oppose most of their extreme agenda but if they can get that majority to divide up into factions, their loons can win by plurality.
For what it's worth, I dislike open primaries even though I'm independent and do use the primaries to attempt triage (I voted for Obama in the 2008 primaries because he was less despicable than HRC). Parties should get to choose their candidates and I think if I want to have a voice in their selection, I should suck it up and register for that party.
It doesn't make a bit of difference, because of the mail-in ballots this state is permafucked.

Colorado voter rolls are some of the worst and SoS absolutely refuses to clean them up.

There is a heavy effort to put open primaries and ranked-choice voting in many states, especially Red states. Lots of out of state money coming in to dilute conservative candidates. Its crazy.

You think outside influence matters?
Colorados GOP is doing a stellar job of sticking their own dicks in their asses.
They don’t need any help.

They don?t need any help.Dave Williams has been an unmitigated disaster. Borderline criminal, certainly unethical.

We're looking at the same RCV issues here, as well .

Yeah, I do.
Look at the B.S. they are pulling in Idaho. All Bankrolled by out of state interests. Colorado screwed itself a long time ago. If they screw the few sane states they can roll the whole U.S. federally. It's a way to get "G.O.P." members like they have in Colorado everywhere.
No thanks.
I still have property in Co but I moved. I couldn't take the craziness anymore.
We need paper ballots, all voting on one day, with government issued photo ID.
Absentee ballots should be exclusively reserved for military and a few other exceptions.

Agree 100% with the last post.
To that, I'd add that the ballot counting machines need to be fully tested and vetted (all of them) by a true unbiased team (yeah, I know, "good luck finding that"). Voters should receive a printed receipt upon entering their ballot that shows them how they voted for each position/initiative and be able to log into a system at a later time to verify their votes weren't changed to offer some degree of integrity to the system.
I suspect the voting fraud in this next election will have plenty of additional (illegal) ballots, lots of non-eligible voters casting ballots but mostly, the software tabulating the votes will inaccurately count the votes for 1 candidate over another. Modifying the software to change votes is harder to catch the fraud than bringing in more ballots after the counting centers officially closed for the day which can be captured on video (as we saw in the last federal election).
