No advertising, also please establish that you have a legal FFL to operate a gunsmith business for profit.

Do you have an FFL so people can send their rifles and pistols to you?
What do I get if I have you do the "target" trigger job?
Thanks, Dave

Any chance you have a used 10/22 for sale? Looking for something on the cheap side, don't need lots of bells and whistles, prefer a synthetic stock.

Bill

Sorry I do not have any thing for sale. Best try the Trading Post.

§ 478.41 General.

(a) Each person intending to engage in business as an importer or manufacturer of firearms or ammunition, or a dealer in firearms shall, before commencing such business, obtain the license required by this subpart for the business to be operated. Each person who desires to obtain a license as a collector of curios or relics may obtain such a license under the provisions of this subpart.

Dealer.
Any person engaged in the
business of selling firearms at wholesaleor retail; any person engaged in the business of repairing firearms or of making or fitting special barrels, stocks, or trigger mechanisms to firearms; or any person who is a pawnbroker. The term shall include any person who engages in such business or occupation on a part-time
basis.

(d) Gunsmith. A person who devotes time, attention, and labor to engaging in such activity as a regular course of trade or business with the principal objective of livelihood and profit,

I. GUNSMITHS(I1) Is a license needed to engage in the business of engraving, customizing, refinishing or repairing firearms?

Yes. A person conducting such activities as a business is considered to be a gunsmith within the definition of a dealer.
See

Item 16, “Federal ExciseTax” in the General Information
section of this publication.

[27 CFR 478.11]

(I2) Does a gunsmith need to enter in a permanent "bound book" record every firearm received for adjustment or repair?

If a firearm is brought in for repairs and the owner waits while it is being repaired or if the gunsmith is able to return the firearm to the owner during the same business day, it is not necessary to list the firearm in the “boundbook” as an "acquisition." If the gunsmith has possession of the firearm from one business day to another or longer, the firearm must be recorded as an “acquisition” and a “disposition" in the permanent "bound book" record.

While I do not know if Bill has a FFL this is one of the reasons that some of us as "Hobbyists" on a given firearm do not do work for $$$ nor do we ever keep one. I have helped many build Fal's as have many here helped people build AK's and the like.

As a hobbyist over the years I have had PM's asking how much I charge for building a gun. My standard reply is always that I will not build it for you. I will provide the tools and help you build your own while you are here. Many replies never had a follow up. Wonder why.[Flower]

"do not need a FFL to ship rifles in state" well nothing Illegal about shipping a rifle from Colorado to Colorado.

Please Enlighten us On what is Illegal as Hell with out asking me if I have or fall under a FFL?

Read post 20.

Correction, that would be post #18.

True one does not need a FFL to ship person to person in state. That is not the aspect of your "business" that is in violation.

Show of hands- Who feels comfortable shipping a firearm to a non licensed "entity" for repair, customization or refinishing?

If in fact you are a licensed FFL I will be the first to apologize and strike my comments, but you need to state that from the git go and clear advertising with the mods.
I am not trying to bust your chops Bill, rather looking out for the best interests of our community here.
Not to mention dragging up an ancient thread to do so.

I accidentally edited this part out of one of his ad posts. As of 09-10-2010 He did not have an FFL. A lot could have changed in two years. Hopefully he has it now and is legal.
