I had another 2A friendly co-worker introduce me to a line of firearms I'd never heard of before; Jiminez Arms.

Have any of you ever heard of them before? Does anyone have any experience with them?

These are heavy guns like Hi-Points, and, like Hi-Point, they are inexpensive guns.

Their largest caliber is 9mm so those who like .45's are out from this end.

I've always understood them to be of the "Saturday Night Special" persuasion, and as such have avoided them. Though I have had some morons try to play me as a fool and pass theirs off as a "Glock equal" and priced them as such.

I was thinking Jennings while I was reading your post. I've heard the name, but nothing past that.

Sounds like another murder gun brand to me.

I have to agree that the quality just doesn't look like it's there. My Uncle has one and was trying to convince my Dad to purchase one. I told him to aviod them and just stick to what you know works. Goes back to "you get what you pay for".

sorta like El Crappola.

Was it a Jimenez or Jensen that went full auto at a range and shot three people a while ago? I know it was posted on here. I think the issue was that the firing pin got stuck out and when the slide was released on a full mag it dumped the mag, into people.

The mere fact that these guns can trace their lineage to Raven Arms should be a huge red flag.... I have a Raven .25 that I have owned for over 10 years, but am afraid to fire, based on the "quality" of the machining. Maybe I'll encase it in a block of casting resin and use it as a non-PC paperweight....

yep, i read up on these and someone onn a different forum (dont have the link) said that when he was at the range someone was shooting one of these and the slide flew backwards and killed the man who was shooting. so...if i want a crappy cheap gun i think id just get a hipoint

Well, lets put it this way...last year, a pawn shop next to where I worked was $20 short of their sales goal for the month, and it was the 31st. They offered me a Jiminez .25 pistol for $20...and I passed on it. Hit the mag release, and you still had to tug the mag out of the frame...

Straight from the website: (here's a link: http://www.shiningstardist.com/JA%20nine.htm) (http://www.shiningstardist.com/JA%20nine.htm)

Features: The flagship feature of the Jimenez Arms J.A. Nine is its easy to use massive screw adjustable rear sight which is adjustable for windage and elevation. Other, higher priced, pistols do not offer this kind of flexibility. The high visibility front sight is another great feature which adds to a highly effective sight pattern. These features coupled with a last round slide hold open makes this pistol uncommonly accurate and a delight at the range."Uncommonly accurate and a delight at the range."

I once knew this horribly over weight and ugly girl. She owned a Jimenez.

Speaking of hipont I was watching a vid on youtube and the guy could rack the slide and chamber a round just by punching in a downward motion really fast. To me that screams high quality. Well I guess you can look "cool" while chambering a round. LOLOLOL!

Ok sorry for pooping on your thread now back to why Jimenez arms suck.

I was talking to one of the dealers at a gun show and since I have bought a couple firearms from him, he told me that he does whatever he can to talk people out of buying the Jimenez pistols. The only reason he carries them is that he was losing sales and had people asking for them.

The name just screamed "P.O.S. gun" to me - then when I saw the price I felt justified.

I think these "guns" are probably best left to the gang-bangers & REAL guns left to those, like us, who can truly appreciate a decent firearm.

A few months back there was a video making the rounds of a well known competitive shooter (I forget who) doing just that with a Glock or XD, so I don't know if that means what you think it means. ;)
