View Full Version : 72 hour waiting period and 4/1 tax question?
I've been looking and haven't found an exact answer, I forgot 4/1 was next Tuesdat. There's a handgun I'd like to buy but I've only found it in stock at Cabelas. 4.5" Mamba-x in case anyone knows another shop.
From what I've read here it sounds like if I go into Cabela's today, I won't get to pick it up until Tuesday 4/1 since they don't honor the 72 hours. With the new law would I pay today or on Tuesday and get hit with the new tax?

You pay for the firearm, taxes and fees today.
You pay for the firearm, taxes and fees today.
Thank you!
I just bought a gun at Sportsmans warehouse. They charged me for the gun and background check, then charged the tax when i picked up the gun. No explanation as to why. I think it has to do with refunds if I didn't past the background check. Overall Sportsman's wasn't a thrilling experience.

Sportsman’s has gone down hill on the last few years.

That’s weird, I just bought a gun from Sportsman warehouse Monday. I picked up my gun today, I payed for the background check today. I wasn’t charged the extra 6.5 percent tax.

Sorry to see CO has fallen so far. 72 hours? What next an unhoused tax on all firearms and related accessories?

I heard a rumor of required training, fees and approval from LEO’s to buy guns to reduce crime.

If it saves one life, isn't it worth it?

Before I started the background check, I specifically asked, "I pay for everything today? " The answer was, "You pay for the gun and background today and the tax when you pick it up." When I asked why, the salesman told me that's the way their system is set up.
No gun for me, oh well.

That makes as much sense as a football bat but as far as what Ben stated on refunds it does have merit.
This state is done folks- and it’s just gonna get worse.
i can’t wait until the next legislative session!
Face it- when it comes to firearms this state is now ruled by Anytown, Giffords Law Center, Moms Demand Action and the like.
Prove me wrong.

Least they talked to you. I stopped at Sportsman’s in Pueblo today to buy some air rifles for a project. I had a question for the gun counter, three were standing there, one looking at 4473s. They glanced at me standing in front of them. I was trying to be polite, but they never bothered to acknowledge me. After a couple minutes of me standing looking at them from literally 6 inches from the counter, I turned around and left. Big 5 had the air rifles I needed, so I purchased 4 along with all the gear I needed.
I was able to buy on Sat and Sam at the Lone Tree location was great. We had a good discussion on SB 003. It's nice that someone at Cabelas seems to actually care and understand what's happening in our state.
I’ve been buying a lot of ammo at the Sheridan store. There’s one guy at the gun counter that’s really knowledgeable, friendly and just a decent guy. He was advising folks looking at guns to buy before 4/01 lol.
