View Full Version : minimum overall length question
hey guys, im thinking a lot of people might not have seen my reloading thread. i was wondering how flexible minimum overall lengths are. i have some 62 gr fmj i reloaded with reloader 15. max grains is 25, i did 23.5. i only sat the bullets to where i could crimp them properly, but some came out to like 2.237 or so, instead of the moa of 2.255. does anyone know if this will be dangerous or not?

No, this shouldn't be dangerous (18 thousanths difference) but consistancy in your rounds is important for consistant/accurate shots.
To avoid potential safety and accuracy issues it's always best ot stick with the known until your reloading skill & knowledge are more advanced (I wouldn't consider myself at that level - yet).

I've reloaded some 9mm bullets over .20" past the min OAL, and had no issues. It seems that my PF9 likes to feed them better that way too.
OAL will affect your accuracy. If you have the bullets too deep higher pressure could be a problem. As long as you aren't running at the max for that powder as well as seating the bullets too deep I don't see a problem. If you loaded to the max you might be in exploration mode.
cool thanks for the responses guys
