View Full Version : Rough weather anyone
The weather was a little rough yesterday with more on the way. How'd everyone fair?
We got one heavy round of hail here with hail as large as 1". Shredded several window screens and leafs from trees and don't even look at the flowers.
Also got some broken window frames. Will have to have the roof checked out too.
No issue in my area yet, north Thornton/Brighton at 144th, but I’m supposed to fly this evening so might have weather delays….we shall see.

So far unscathed here in Northeastern Colo Spr. Sorry to hear that you got damage at your place.
Yesterday we only got light to moderate rain with heavy breezes.
It's supposed to be worse today though, so we'll see how it plays out.

I am surprised these thunderstorms can get cooking so well with the low temps.
Discovered that 2 of 3 spinners had blades broken off. One porch light mangled.
Amazingly the hummingbirds all seemed to have survived somehow.
And no idea how much rain we got because the rain gauge got destroyed too. Was just plastic.

Little rain and some thunder but nothing severe.
Last Sunday different story, lucked out that tornados didn't make it to us.

We only got small pea sized hale up north, got lucky it was real soft and didn't rip all the leaves off or shread the flowers.
Rained steady for about 90 minutes with brief pea sized hail in my little corner of Centennial.

I've lost track of how many tornado warnings have been issued here in just the last week... Let's just say spring weather in central OK is rather active, and this year has been way busier than usual for severe weather.
This is from the 19th taken from a pilot friend's aviation radar app. Notice the 70,000 ft tops near the center. Our house is pretty much right underneath that storm:

4/4 the tornado missed my place by 300 yards. another tornado took the roof off a house a mile away.

Has anyone else noticed that there are a TON more tornado's this year?
Just Googled how many so far in 2025 in the US and this is what I got back:
In 2025, the United States has experienced a significant number of tornadoes, with preliminary reports exceeding 900 as of late May. This is well above the historical average of 641 for this time of year, making it the busiest year for tornadoes since 2011, according to AccuWeather. A more precise count of 960 tornadoes was reported by the National Weather Service as of May 22, according to PennLive.com.
Well, cold, drizzle and rain for the Air Force Academy graduation today. Has to be miserable..

Yep. And the flyover by the Thunderbirds got scrubbed. Bummer for the new LTs.
