A friend and I bought our M1 rifles together 40 some years ago. Same time, same place. I got the SA and he received the Winchester. Both marked Blue Sky, both from Korea. In late 1999 I left CA and moved to CO. I have never looked back. In 2001 my friend moved to Louisiana and left his safe and rifles at his parent?s house. I asked what he was planning to do with the M1 and he said if I wanted it, it was mine. Well, this year I was able to bring it home. I have purchased a new stock set for it and will install it soon

well, I am jealous. I like Garands , especially Winchesters. Lucky you.

Looks great! There is still supposed to be a hoard of rifles over there, hopefully the CMP can make a deal some day though the South Korean government seems to be intent on keeping them.

There’s this OneGuy out there- he knows his Garands.

Great rifle and a good story to go with it

Actually all the M1 rifles in South Korea were sold at auction to Century Arms back in 2010.
First the Obama administration facilitated the deal, then they blocked it (after the guns had been bought and paid for)

CMP can't source them because the rifles do not belong to the US Army.
Century eventually got their money back.
