Hello, I'm moving to Denver from the Northwest in Spokane. I have a terrible case of black rifle disease, and am hopelessly addicted to extreme long range shooting. Hope to have a long happy shooting/trading/project building career here. Cheers!

Welcome.

The best advice I can offer is to NOT move into Denver proper - pick something in the outlying "metro" area.

From your intro it sounds like you'll fit in here nicely.

Welcome to the forum and to our fine state..

What brings you out this way?

theGinsue speaks the truth. The city/county of Denver is the only part of the state with an AWB.

Stay out of Denver and live in one of the many surrounding towns. I'm partial to the south and southwest.

If I had to live in the Denver Metro Area I'd live in Evergreen, Golden or if you want to be closer to downtown, Littleton or Highlands Ranch.

But frankly I'm happier down in The Springs :D

Golden is closer to down town than Littleton is. Well, maybe not, but it's close.

Thank you for the warm welcome guys. I'm moving here b/c I recently separated from my soon to be ex, and my best friend lives there in Denver, BigMat in the forum. I used to live near 8th and Colorado when I was a youngin goin to school for a couple years. I'm selling a ton of gear to fund a AAC Titan suppressor and a US Optics scope for my Rem 700 MLR in 338 (hence my name) does anyone have any suggestions for shops that give a fair trade or sell price? I'll list the stuff here too to see if anyone's interested, but I'm itching to complete my dream rifle. Everything is in almost new condition, have RRA Entry Tac, Yugo underfolder, Armalite AR10 SPR, two aimpoints M2 and M3, two burris fastfires and mounts, 800+ rds 7.62x39, and a LaRue SPR-S. I'll list it all in the trading post with photos when I get there in two weeks, but I'd like to get a jump start on where to look for a place to possibly do a straight trade, my kit for the silencer and the USO SN-3 TPAL. Thanks in advance gentlmen.

Also, I'd like to get involved in 1000 yard matches, or further. Are there any clubs that do this kind of thing formally or informally?

You might want to check with the other NFA guys about whether or not you can get a CLEO sign-off on your Form 4 in Denver.

I've heard the Sheriff in Arapahoe county refuses to sign them, I would expect trouble in Denver.

yikes. I'll look into creating a trust if there's bad news.

Welcome,

I've been told by several Denver metro area class 3 dealers that you can't get a CLEO signoff in Denver. You have to go corp or trust.

Elsewhere on this site there is a Colorado shooting range guide that is very useful.

Denver has a ban on magazines larger than 20 rounds.

Keep in mind that retailers will typically give you a fair sum less than what the item is actually worth so that they can resell it at a profit for closer to it's fair market value.

You'll do far better if you can sell the items to another individual.

Welcome,

Sorry to jack but is this just for the city and county of Denverr? I thought you couldn't have an AR in the city and county??

Thanks and pardon my noobness [Tooth]

from my understanding that law has been repealed. When I used to live here back in 2004 there was an outright ban on scary rifles in the city

Irving
01-24-2010, 13:26
That is incorrect. They used to have a list of specific rifles. Now there is no list and it is just a ban on mags more than 20 rounds on rifles/pistols and more than 6 rounds for semi-auto shotguns.

Check out this page on the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners Webbsite.

If at all possible don't move inside the city of Denver city limits.

Awesome! Thanks for the info!

Morgan - You will love the Mile High city, like Zundfolge said the mountain areas like evergreen or golden are beautiful. Let me know if/when you get ready to sell that AR-10, I might be interested [M2]

I'm ready to sell it, just need to move to CO first! Its the 20" SPR with around 200 rounds down the pipe. Only very minor use marks and come with the original box, flash hider (it's using a PWS brake/FH), manual, mag, and an ERGO sure Grip. Selling it only b/c I can't afford an AAC Titan without doing so
