Has anyone renewed their carry permit (especially in Arapahoe County) and used competition experience for the familiarity requirement? If so, did you just print out a USPSA/IDPA/Practiscore record of your competitions? There doesn't appear to be a minimum number of competitions (not really an issue) but wondering how closely they look at it. Do they want membership numbers from sanctioning bodies?
I wonder is NSCA and 22 steel count.

I wonder is NSCA and 22 steel count.
it doesn't say handgun proficiency, but instead says you may show "Evidence of experience with a firearm through participation in organized shooting competitions...."
It doesn't say how many. It doesn't say anything other than that.
Based on the live fire section and test that was involved to get my renewal I don’ t think they really care what you do, they just want to make it a pain in the ass for you.

Unless things have changed, your current permit is proof of previous experience. Some think that because the NRA certificate expires at 10 years another certificate is pessary. I live in A.C., have had my permit over 10 years.
Have the changes gone into effect yet?

Let us know how that goes when you renew next.

I'm curious about this myself just for general information. Probably easiest to call the SO and ask what they need to see.
For reference. C.R.S 18-12-211 Renewal of permits. (https://law.justia.com/codes/colorado/title-18/article-12/part-2/section-18-12-211-d-1/)

From https://www.jeffco.us/437/Renewal-Applicant
Effective July 1, 2025, all renewal and new CHP applicants must have a certificate from a verified instructor to proceed with your application.
All concealed handgun permit renewal applications that are submitted on or after July 1, 2025, are required to include a refresher training
course certificate from a verified firearms instructor or provide alternative training documentation pursuant to House Bill 24-1174.
Jefferson County wants approve who can be a "verified instructor" .

I assume it varies in how different counties go about it, but in my correspondence with the Larimer county sheriff's office, they just need to see something with the name of the organization/match, the date, your name and shooting results. They said they will take it if the person has attended one competition in the past ten years from when their permit application is submitted.
