Ok, so I would like to start doing some of the shooting matches and have looked thru the rules listed for a bunch of them. I would like to run my FN FiveseveN. Pretty much everything stated 9mm or higher. Would the 5.7 qualify for the Open catagory?

The 5.7 round is a no-go for steel therefore it wouldn't be allowed in USPSA/IPSC, not sure about IDPA as I don't shoot that.

They don't even allow .223 and smaller down at the silhouette range at Whittington. Since most matches are a combination of paper and steel you would need to find an all paper match.

As has been said steel targets are not cheap and the small fast bullets do a number on them. At our pistol stages down at Fal fest we even discourage the CZ-52 and TT-33 just because of the bounce back on steel.

On the rules side: the bullet caliber isn't going to make it in either IDPA or USPSA. 9mm Luger is the smallest allowable caliber. 5.7 won't fly in a steel challange match either because of safety and steel damage.

Short of Bianchi, which I'm not sure they would allow it there either, I'm pretty sure it's unusable in any of the action pistol sports.

On the common sense side: the ammo itself would make it a horrible choice. It's availability sucks, it's cost is high, and it's power factor is very high.

Do you have any other pistols? If so, what are they?
