I finally decided on a pistol after looking for 18 months. I have lots of rifles but now have finally purchase my first pistol. I got it for CCW. After handling so many guns my head was spinning, I decided on a Walther PK380. It just feels right in my hand. I know it's not going to bring down a water buffalo. What it does give for me is a good shooting pattern.

The crazy thing I started wanting a MP 40 before I even got out of the store [Bang]

Walther makes nice stuff, good choice.

Pistols are like AR's. Or potato chips. You can't have just one. Don't fight it, just go with it. There's no turning back...

Should be a good choice, I haven't looked at them yet myself, but I do have a question about the PK380 since you know own one...

What is the Safety like? I hope it's a little easier to move with the thumb than the one on the P22. The PK380 seems to have a larger thumb area for setting and taking off the safety, is that true?

My carry is a Walther P99-great choice. Welcome to Waltherland.[Beer]

They do feel good in the hand. My only complaint with them is, and don't think I'm bashing on your gun, is round capacity for the size of the firearm. They make smaller pistols that have the same capacity in the same caliber. Just my opinion and or observation. Other than that the PK380 is sure to be a winner for Walther or Smith or however owns them.

Welcome to the club buddy! Many more are sure to follow now. Look what you did!

Have you gone out and shot it and been humbled yet? Or are you a pretty good shot naturally?

The safety is on the left and right side. Like the gun it's small. Seems to be easy enough.

I was getting into it after a few rounds. I do well with rifles but was surprised just how far away 15 yards was with a pistol. I haven't shot mine yet but I have a 100 rounds burning a hole in my pocket. Dang! Ammo is scarce for 380.

Thats a great gun by an exceptional manufacturer, but...

.380? Wow. I had a guy at work 3 weeks ago (okay, it was my bosses boss) who told me he can't find much .380, and what he can find is so overpriced still.

Your right the 380 ammo is in tight supply. All they would sell me was 100 rounds from their hidden stash. I was hoping to get some online from Midway etc...

Congrats! Check out The Shootist over off santa fe and dartmouth. They had a ton of .380 range ammo there last time, and a bunch of gold dots for like 23 a box! Welcome to walther! I carry a P99 in 9mm, have had an Sw99 .40, and also own a ppk! great guns!

Last I checked the shootist wouldn't let you buy range ammo unless you were shooting it.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't even know they were in my neighborhood. I'll drop by today to break in my new PK380.

I just went today. You are correct. The ammo prices were fair but only for the range.

Just buy what you can afford, dump a box down range and take the rest home. I did this when they had .45 auto (pmc) @ $17.00 per 50. Got a funny look when I bought 11 boxes and only went down stairs for 15 minutes. It's like I always say...fuk em if they can't take a joke, right?
