hey all, i just bought my dad a stevens model 58 bolt action 12ga at the tanner gun show, it was 90 bucks. I am having trrouble finding any good info on the gun, do any of you know about/have one that can tell me a bit about it? Or direct me where i can find info? I googled it and used the search function here but not much info. Some random dude at the show said to only out lead shells through it. Ummmm......arnet they all? unless one is using slugs?

Slugs are lead as well. He probably meant to avoid using steel or tungsten stuff through it.

I have the .410 version of that gun, a priceless heirloom given to me by my grandfather.

I have shot both slugs and shot out of mine without any issues. I would stay away from any steel shot though.

thanks guys! Just picked it up from bass pro the other day. I had them check it out for me, just to make sure it would not go KFB when we take it out! Picked up some target rounds for it. Soon as it warms up were going to an outdoor range. Not sure which one though.
