Guys I am new to the forum and would like your advice. I have been reading through the wealth of knowledge and I really appreciate everything I have learned so far.

With that said I would like to know how well I did with my bartering skills at Tanner today. In advance PLEASE excuse my ignorance if I use the wrong terminology. I am still very green. So here is what I picked up. Up to this point I have a XD40SC and H&K P30S (a few days old! & In love!)

The rifle I purchased this weekend was in excellent condition. I would rate the appearance a 9 out of 10.

Rock River (Lower?? LAR-15 5.56mm rubber grip sliding stock US rubber pad at the end), LMT 16" Upper (RRA top rail with sight) It also has an EOTech Red dot cross hairs Holo scope 552.A65/1 model(?) & Tapco short vertical grip. The rifle is in excellent condition and only a few rounds went through the rifle according to the dealer.

So what do you think I should have paid for this setup? I would like to hear your opinions before I influence any answers. I'll post pics soon. Also, I am planning on taking a formal Tactical rifle training course soon.

Thanks for your advice in advance!

im not an expert either, but lmt uppers are usually kinda pricey. id say that with the eotech would make the whole set up run $1,000 or so used, possibly more. its hard to say when i can't see it. i mean if its immaculate, i could see $1200-1300.

If it has something crazy on it like a DD or a Larue rail it could have gone for more, but I'd say 1000-1100 is fair with MI type hg's.

What did you pay for it? Bartering is only for amusement at gun shows as most will still screw you but make you feel good about it.

I do not care what you paid for it, consider it good if YOU are happy with it. That being said welcome and spend some money on ammunition.

I agree with USMC 88-93, if you are happy with it, who gives a damn what you paid for it. I have had some smokin deals on good firearms and have been taken, yet I was still happy at the end.

Enjoy your new buy[Beer]

First thanks for the quick replies... I agree with you, I'm happy and the deal is done, so I can't kick myself. I paid $1050 even. +$10 for the BGC.

It was not the one in desert camo at the machineguntours.com booth. I did see it though. I spent some time looking at the 556's they had. Which was the other rifle I was debating (New SIG 556).

Speaking of Camo and not to derail my own thread....Yesterday there was a guy walking around selling a Custom camo I actually think I found his SIG on youtube. I think he wanted just under $5K. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTnRsFbwc_A

I'll post some pics in a few.

I saw one dealer at a NIB colt 6940 for $1450. i didn't think that was too bad. I love the look of that gun[Beer]

Sorry for the poor pics from my Iphone... My camera was dead. I also included my P30S .40 and XD40SC in the photo shoot.

I saw a ton of Colt's & Bushmasters for sale. There were a ton of deals to be had that's for sure... and a ton of what I thought steep AR's. But frankly I was not an expert so who knows. I was also looking at a couple of Spikes tactical.
I also purchased a Magpul sling, some mags, rail grips, Magpul ASAP attachment, a padded tactical rifle bag/pack. I'm very happy with what I took home. Now I want to go shoot it!!!!

That's a fine looking weapon. Personally I'd lose the carry handle, move the EOTech onto the receiver and get a rear sight for it.

Congrats, though!

There was a thread with a mention of this not long ago. The big buying binge of last year is now coming full circle. I'm sure there will be a load of M4 lookalikes for sale for some time. If you're patient, you can probably come up with a decent deal. Sounds like you did fine here.
