View Full Version : My new present to myself!
I was finally able to get a new Dillon 550B press over charismas I paid 560 for it with all the conversions I needed, tool heads, extra priming tubes, and parts kits and powder dies. took only a week to get here was very quick. loaded 1500 rounds only one day after getting it set up. thought i would share a photo as i know most on this forum have progressive presses. for only being 20 years old its one more thing off the list.

Very nice!
Nice!! Where'd you get it from?
1,500 rounds in only one day? Sign me up.
foxtrot you point is well taken and actually, that is what i did that day i went and fired the first 100 than came back and finished the rest off on the press once i found the load i liked! i have been reloading for 2 years on a single stage before i moved to the progressive. doesn't mean ill make a mistake one day we are always learning.
graves i bought it from a Dillon dealer in Colorado if you are interested in getting one he is located in boulder he is also a kimber dealer works out of his house i have his phone number.
very nice set up! speaking of reloading...I really need to get my tables set up! moving sucks!

Just a word of advice - make sure you shoot a few of your very first reloads before you go reloading several cases of the stuff, especially if your a new reloader. You'd be amazed what problems you can find and nip in the bud - or on the flip side, find later and have to pull 1,500 rounds otherwise.....
Speaking from experience. Although my worst one ever was only 700 rounds. *sigh*
+1 on brutal experience... just because you deprime the case doesn't mean the case is all the way resized too..

You really can't go wrong there. I've used a Dillon that my old man has and my lnl seems to work every bit as well, not nearly as much of a pita to dial in as an old lee I had. I was really torn between a Dillon and the lnl but the pkg I found with the 1k free bullets Hornady offered at the time helped make my decision a little easier.

that's a pretty good deal if they included 1000 rounds your choice to the package deal i doubt they still do that now though being so fare behind! btw i go to school 20 Min's from there manufacturing plant! they give free tours if you happen to be traveling on I-80 by grand island Mon-Thur its a pretty cool place!

is there any price advantage by buying local as opposed to just ordering from dillon?
yes you save around 9 percent all said and done with tax. saved me around 50 bucks compared to ordering it straight from Dillon. if you want his number/email shoot me a PM.
basically a simple formula when your wondering what it will cost.
add everything up and times by 78% his dealer cost. than times that by 10% his profit, than 4.75 % sales tax. plus 20 for shipping if its a larger model press like 650 and up it might be 25.
basically he only earns 10 percent per order which is pretty fare considering in the end you save a decent chunk of change better than nothing.
coop, with my 550 just now i just loaded 500 rounds and doing another 500 later today once i take a break and do something else for a while!
